Being in a chain does not increase the chances of finding a shiny, that random number is always gonna be the same. However, being in a chain allows u to choose which pokemon u want the shiny to be, and makes it a little faster, u can see several patches of grass rustle at a time, so instead of hunting by one battle at a time, its more like 2-4 groups at a time. and no recharge
Chaining does increase the chance of finding a shiny.
The bigger the chain, the more the chance will rise. After passing 40, you have the biggest chance of finding a shiny, and the the chance won't increase anymore. At 40, the chance of seeing a shiny patch is 1 in 50 if you see 4 shaking patches.
During a chain, each number that brings you closer to 40 gives you a higher chance of a shiny patch appearing. Once you get a chain of 40, just keep resetting the radar, for you're bound to get a shiny eventually.

I just chain with a full party of paturisu's or whatever they're named lol, well the ones with pickup ability anyways, that way, i get items like, nuggets(which in the long run, more then pay for your repels, which means you don't have to waste time vs. seeking fights for cash) and you get other goodies, like rare candies, dusk stones, dawn stones, uh, pp ups, hyper potions, etc, the list goes on, i just find it relevant to my chaining, for some reason lol.
Nice idea, though I don't save the game if my chain breaks. I save in the grass with a repel on, choose a starting patch, and when it's not the pokemon I want, I Soft Reset. It goes faster and take less repels. I also Soft Reset as soon as my chain breaks ^^
So, you save before even starting a chain, if you don't get a shiny, and your chain breaks, you soft reset, chose the patch that you started that chain with, and begin again, that's a great idea as well, and you can still use the paturisu idea that way, because after each battle they have a chance of holding items.
but i think you should do that, because all the pokemon you find have the chance of having pokerus, a VERY good think you'd like to happen to your pokemon so even though i don't like my clock to show i've played a lot of time i always save and/or go from time to time to a pokemon center to check that, and besides your pokemon get Exp while killing all those pokemon! sooo shouldn't soft reset, but anyway LOL you've have a lot of luck with your shinies!! you must be good!!

About the clips 7 and 9, if the pokemon is fainted or caught, shiny patches never break your chains and are exceptions for all rules. That is at least how it is supposed to be. =3
it can actually broke ur chain cuz i chained magby once and the shiny patch appeared at the edge of the field and the magby broke my chain. but sometimes it doesnt.

It's possible to see a Shiny Patch at a chain of 1, it happened to me once. I also had a Shiny on a chain of 4 twice, and one on 9, 13, 14, 15, 16, 20 and such numbers. It rarely happens though.

Wow, aren't those patches beautiful? Every time I see one it's exciting. I've never seen two at a time, that's pretty cool. Nice Elekid chain, the most I've ever gotten is a chain of 67 with 27 shiny Budews. In the Valley Windworks too, I hate the glitchiness of that place.

I have gotten 18 for mareep and I think buizel and 25 for machop. Chaining pisses me off, I can only do it for a few hours, lol.
I got to like 12 with Miltank and Gastly (really want one) but it keeps breaking :/
So, I punched my DS and threw it in the toilet.

omg when i chained in my diamond game once i was looking for girl nidoran and i had tht patch but i avoided it cause i thought it was a different pokemon omg i could of had a shiny :'(

It's possible to see a Shiny Patch at a chain of 1, it happened to me once. I also had a Shiny on a chain of 4 twice, and one on 9, 13, 14, 15, 16, 20 and such numbers. It rarely happens though.

Nice job. I recently started chaining and I've gotten 3 shinies so far. My best chain was 49 Geodudes and only one shiny 0_o but I'm getting the hang of it and I plan to post more vids so be sure to check out my page! thanks

Wow, aren't those patches beautiful? Every time I see one it's exciting. I've never seen two at a time, that's pretty cool. Nice Elekid chain, the most I've ever gotten is a chain of 67 with 27 shiny Budews. In the Valley Windworks too, I hate the glitchiness of that place.

Lol, now on a chain of 74 Elekid with 35 shinies so far. I got 2 shiny patches at THE SAME TIME and that TWICE in this chain :O

I can see why you didn't want to go get the #7 & #9 shinies. I go in corners all the time and...well... the chain breaks. I did that with surskits. I got mad because I broke it when it was 30...
