Zum Glück habe ich eine Chance, heute hier zu sprechen in den USA mit einem ehemaligen Ost-Berliner. Ich war ein US-Soldat bei 83 und 84, und war in Deutschland stationiert. Anfangs hatte er scheint ein wenig empört, dass ich mit ihm sprechen Deutsch zu versuchen. Nach ein paar Sekunden, er ist ein bißchen offener. Welche Meinung, tun das ehemalige Ossis heute haben.

Ich möchte selber gar nicht wissen, wie Leute damals in der DDR gelebt haben. Ich kann nur von Glück reden, dass ich in dieser Zeit noch nicht auf der Welt war. Ich kann es mir auch gar nicht vorstellen, welches Gefühl man bekommen hat, als man endlich ausreisen durfte. Ich denke, heute können wir (unsere Generation) uns das nicht einmal vorstellen. Es ist gut so, dass die Mauer weg ist und wir können nur hoffen, dass es so eine Zeit nie wieder geben wird!!!

Erst wurde Demonstriert für Freiheit und Gerechtigkeit und später wünschen sich diese Leute die Mauer wieder zurück und wollen nix davon wissen, vorher selbst gegen die DDR gewesen zu sein! Fahren aber mit Sicherheit ein "fetteres" Auto als damals und können frei Reisen usw.!

It would be naive to think the SED would open the border by mistake.
The GDR was a ruin with only the opening of borders, the SED has the final say over all of Germany today.

Ich möchte selber gar nicht wissen, wie Leute damals in der DDR gelebt haben. Ich kann nur von Glück reden, dass ich in dieser Zeit noch nicht auf der Welt war. Ich kann es mir auch gar nicht vorstellen, welches Gefühl man bekommen hat, als man endlich ausreisen durfte. Ich denke, heute können wir (unsere Generation) uns das nicht einmal vorstellen. Es ist gut so, dass die Mauer weg ist und wir können nur hoffen, dass es so eine Zeit nie wieder geben wird!!!

Erst wurde Demonstriert für Freiheit und Gerechtigkeit und später wünschen sich diese Leute die Mauer wieder zurück und wollen nix davon wissen, vorher selbst gegen die DDR gewesen zu sein! Fahren aber mit Sicherheit ein "fetteres" Auto als damals und können frei Reisen usw.!
Unzufrieden mit dem eigenen erreichten müssen diese Leute andere für ihr eigenes Versagen verantwortlich machen!
