No, Annie is NOT in this opening ; watch it again.
AJ & Gregory are in, because they were the ones who saved all the survivors with a helicopter just before the ship explodes.

I remember watching this when it was about 12. If I remember right, it ended with a really hilarious shot of two guys running to jump out of the ship with a fireball coming right behind them and a shark was also involved.

Yup, the business with the "Jaws" shark was deleted from the prime time airing of this storyline. That stuff was only included in the original daytime airing.

Sunset Beach was massive in the UK! It was cult viewing and everyone knew of it. We cried buckets when it was axed. NBC were too quick to drop it. Not when it was making so much international money for them. No other American soap has done well over here since.
