  • hachi, what you said is right about toyota, but for nissan, their GTRs are also beating godlike Corvettes left and right, not just european cars.

    2011 V-Spec will eat your ZR1, just wait till the 2012 GT-R (new one), which already smokes a ZR1, gets a V-Spec version. The 'Corvette" will um..... no longer be the God that it is anymore.

  • The japanese automakers never learn. Remember what happened in the mid to late 90's with all the japanese 'supercars'? Great performance and great tech but at prices that made them compete with the european makers for the same market share. Now we have the GTR and LFA.  Again, they never learn.

  • Where are the official times? I would be hearing about it from all of the guys I have made look stupid if they released them. They know what I know and that is if they released it, it would kill the sales, because it will be no faster than the 2010 Japanese Spec GTR they ran the ring with on Spec V rims and tires. If I'm wrong, prove it.

  • The Standard 2011 GTR is probably quicker than this V-Spec. Ha the Standard 2010 GTR posts times on the Nurb are only a second and a half slower than the V-Spec.

  • @bogdan555100 2009 cars are sold in 2008, and so on. This means the 2009 GT-R was already out. This was the model for the upcoming 2010 year which would be on sale in 2009. At least watch and listen to the video.

  • the Spec V GTR ran 7:25 (not official) on a partially wet track and the Base GTR 2010ran 7:26.7.. (.3 behind the ZR-1)...and Nissan claim the Spec V GTR has 485hp when actually its around 530-550hp! So im sure the Spec V GTR can surpass 7:26.7 set by the Base GTR. It will be more SAD for the other cars when the Spec V GTR hits under 7:25..

  • Why would it be sad? That car is well over 160K to buy and I doubt it will beat the Viper's time and it's 99K - 107K to own. Do you think the rest of the world will sit still? The ZR1 didn't take a year of practice on the track like the GTR Program. I'm sure it could do better as well. It's sad that the only real performance car the Asians have is the GTR. The Next 2011 Mustang GT will kill the 370Z and nothing else touches the base Vette or CTS-V(Except porsche at 132K) in there price range.

  • c'mon man i thought u know..the brake on the Spec V GTR cost 50K itself! If it weren't for the brake price being so high? i'd say Spec V is around 90K-120K for it. Have u ever see the Lexus LF-A? it has 550HP+ (350K+) and can beat the Viper at the Ring. I know your about to mention the price, but its not all about HP here.., good engine respond, good engineering by the Japs.., next up for Jap Sportcars? is the ACURA NSX! then the NEW MODEL GTR (R36) with 600HP+, but thats a different story..

  • You make a good point about the brakes. I have to mention price because I try to keep things realistic. The GTR is an incredible machine, but it is the only car we can talk about that is close to being reasonable in price if you can call 80+K reasonable. In the more affordable realm of 50K and under, they offer very little that doesn't require modifications to be fast with great handling and decent mpg.

  • @TheHm3 The ZR1 will either end production in 2011 or get an Hp Boost. what ever happens it doesn't really matter the ZR1and Viper are so Quick that they got everybody scrambling to catch them. look how many times Nissan has been to the track. I bet if Jan Magnussen drives the ZR1 he will Not only Beat the GT-Rs track time but likely tie the Dodge Viper (which by the way the GT-R has yet to beat). All this talk about the ZR1 has been fun but now time to beat the Viper.

  • @aosprite48 well u sir do not know the legendary corvette history but i do admit i have less knowledge about the gtr... but im sure gtr WILL NOT beat a c7 it will come close just look at what happened between the c4 vs supra... supra had came close but c4 took the win and just to top it off c4 gran sport was out years before supra... vettes are pure legends but they are soo underrated

The 2012 GT-R is coming out soon (Feb 2011), and thanks to its power boost (now 530HP instead of the original's 480HP) and improved aerodynamics, is much faster, already doing 7:24 on the Nurburgring (and in wet conditions too - imagine its laptime in dry conditions!).

    And really ridiculous with the Supra comparison (it's a much lower class than the GT-R).

  • @TheHm3 As someone else mentioned, if Toyota would revive the Supra it will be sold as the Supra, not the LFA. Those cars are of two different classes. (The Supra is a light Sports Coupe on par with say the Nissan 350Z, not a Supercar, and definitely not in the same class as the GT-R).

    The Camaro is currently too low powered to be of competition - see how the 2010 SS model did in the Top Gear Test Track. Now I would imagine the V6 model if boosted to over 500HP just might put up a fight...

  • @sailorenlil wait are u saying if the v6 camaro had 500hp would be a competition? and heres the thing with the corvette zr1... it just has too much power and too light now if the zr1 would have been 400hp at the same weight... that would be the right combo 638hp @ 3350 lbs is just too unbalanced.. the car can easily go out of control.. the base vette on the other hand is easier to handle

  • @TheHm3 Not at all. The 2010 Camaro has a curb weight of 3750 lbs, just 50lbs less than the Nissan GT-R. And from what I read (referring to the "Jay Leno Camaro" project), the 2010 Camaro's V6 engine is actually lighter than the V8 giving the LT/RT better weight distribution than the SS. The Jay Leno Camaro (which has a turbocharged V6) has 425HP - tune it with just 50HP more and it could be on par with the 2007-2010 GT-R (or bring it to over 500HP to match the 2012 GT-R).

  • @TheHm3 Now the Corvette ZR1 indeed is too unbalanced with its current power-weight ratio, and exaserbated by its use of the "Ladder Chassis" and older style suspension (resulting in a very "loose" rear end). The Camaro on the other hand is a better handling car (as demonstrated on Top Gear), but it just needs more power.

  • @sailorenlil I own a supra and completely agree. Supra is definitely outclassed by the newer GT-Rs, but it was produced in a time when the R32s and R33s were running in the JGTC and did give those cars a run for there money.

    McLaren F1 is still the fastest NA production car in the world. And perhaps the only car that increases in value over the years due to its one off engine, and its unique 3 seat layout.

    In years to come newer and faster 911s GTRs, Corvettes will come out, and the cars you all crave for now will just depreciate and then forgotten. But the McLaren F1 still stands out as... absolute bonkers!!

  • You can search the 997 turbo pdk on youtube. They did that in Portugal, in a cabriolet, 2 persons in the car. That thing, after the facelift, is a rocket now.

    0-100 3.4s (rear wheel drive)

    0-200 10.65s.

    Top 205 mph.

    - The door should be gullwing or scissor.

    - The price should be around 250k.

    If they build it with scissor door and priced 250k, then it will be selling very well.

    gullwing/scissor doors or not, it doesn't affect the performance. They will make 500 LFA's and the price has been set by lexus for the US market at around 400K.

    i should add the LFA is 65% carbon fiber body not 100%.

  • My point is, your so-called "king of the truck" ZR1, with a 2009 truck engine of 6.2 liter twin supercharge, only can compete with other 2005-2006 cars' engine of below 4 liter twin turbo.

    2006 599, 6l, normal aspirated 638 HP.

    2009 ZR1 6.2l twin supercharge 620 HP.

    In autocar test, straight race, 2007 GT2 3.6l twin turbo, was faster than "your king of truck" 2009 6.2l twin super charger.

    The normal GTR 3.8l twin turbo lap the ring 7:26.7.

    King of truck 6.2l twin supercharge 7:26.3.

  • If European or Japs make a car with 6+ liter and twin turbo, then the "King of Truck" will need a 15 liter triple supercharge to compete.

    The other way :

    If ZR1 use the same capacity with 911 or GTR, which is below 4 liter twin turbo, then the ZR1 will be in Camry-Hybrid class in order of acceleration.

  • The Veyron is a real monster fast. ZR1 will need 100 liter and 20 turbos to reach the Veyron speed. LOL...

    In early 2000, European and Japs road-models were starting to get 100 hp per liter with normally aspirated. With turbos or superchargers, they were getting 125-150 hp per liter. But in 2009, ZR1 King Of The Truck (LOL), with twin superchargers is still getting "a bit less" than 100 hp per liter.

    In 2009, ferrari is getting 123.7 hp per liter with normal aspirated (F458).

    horsepower per liter doesn't mean much at all. It's power to weight ratio that is most important to the performance of a car. the ZR1 has a much better power to weight ratio than any of these cars.

And if you want to go that way....theres still the Maxximus g force Ultima GTR...which will out accelerate the SCC ultimate aero. The Radical SR8 holds many records as well, including fastest car *or one of the fastest* around Nordschleife with a 6:55, and from what ive seen, there are about 10 cars ahead of the ZR1, lol, and most are street legal, so its not the fastest, cheapest maybe.

  • the radical is a SR8 POS go-cart made for the track which can run circles around the ZR1 and enzo. there are plenty of go-carts and junior indy carts at racing schools that can do the same. not impressed with go-carts unless you're a teen that can't drive yet. lol

    the 2006 model SSC is +3mph faster than the veyron. the new and improved 2009/2010 model can run welll over 270mph safely. SSC is waiting for someone to beat their old record so they can blast them away by +10mph. SSC is KING!!!!
