Dubstep does genrally need a heavy sub bass though, i'm personaly not a fan of Mt Eden at all, just really dislike them, but fair play if you do mate. A classic dubstep song in my eyes, is 'Burial - You Hurt Me'. Vibes are emotional, bass is heavy, and tempo is slow and steady. Just how dubstep should be.

The reason I love dubstep is because there's so much variety in it to be found. If I'm in the mood to chill I listen to this, if Im in the mood to dance I listen to a banger and if I'm smoking weed I listen to a spacetrack.

It makes the song stand out from others, giving it some change which is nice to listen to when all you hear all day is the grime u know. Dont get me wrong i like drops and the heavy bass lines but some artists take it too far and dont incorporate it musically which makes the song annoying.

caspa and rusko with the others helped make dub more popular. the kings would be skream and benga and such for starting the music we all listen to now. flux pavillion doctor p even bar 9 came around because of the creators of dub(benga and skream ect..) a dub song does not need a drop or grime to make it dub.

Look at it like this: you say Caspa and Rusko made Dub popular (mainstream) but Benga, Skream, Benny Ill, Hatcha, Mark One are the ones that actually made Dub popular. They definitely didn't create it. There was a massive culture fusion as Club genres like Trance, Jungle and Garage met Jamaican Dub and its innovations as it came to England. Loads of artists were experimenting, these artists appealed more to those outside the scene.
