I own this amp too. Ever since I bought mine back in 2000, I haven't even been remotely interested in buying anything else or going to guitar stores. It's kind of like having a super model for a wife.
And many other brands offers a Kind of Plexi Modded Amp, ...but 2 months later i´m still thinking the same. In-cre-di-ble tone. I will save money for buy this amp.
believe it or not paf type pickups are better for high gain, its always better to get ur gain from the tubes in the amp be it pre amp or power than from hot pups
@kerranz yeah . Vintage pickups = way to go ! richer tone , more definition and headroom ... i have an ol' strat (97) with a SH12 and a pair of fralin real 54's and it's the best thing ever . the thing beats ibanez and jackson anytime . and it's still a fender , for blues , funk and even jazz if you're not a purist ... it's hard to beat , really . Plus , i like the "hotrodded strat" look'n'feel ...plays so easy , sounds so good and versatile... rich , thick and warm tones at your fingertips ..
@kerranz -Sorry to come late to this party, but just wanted to say I totally agree with you! Everybody freaks out about how "powerful" this pickup is, how "bell clear and sweet" that one is, "this one is best for metal/country/jazz/blues" blah, blah, blah! Any good, decent, well working pickup will reproduce ALL kinds of tones great. It is the PLAYER who is the ultimate tone creator! Been playing 35 years myself. Keep On Rockin'! :)
@kerranz Overwinding pickups doesn't take away mid range. It cuts highs. The more winds you have, the greater the inductance and capacitance you have. The two together create a resonant frequency, where everything around it is boosted and everything above it is cut dramatically. In your typical low output pickup, the resonant frequency is a several kHz. As the inductance and capacitance rise, the resonant frequency lowers and starts getting closer to the midrange.
@kerranz As it gets closer to the midrange, there becomes an increased emphasis in the mids and less highs since they're now above the resonant frequency.
Thanks...Once heard an absolutely killer tone this guitarist was getting, and it turned out he was using one of these cheap Danelectro pedals...I was floored! It seems more $ isn't always the ticket ;)
much appraise to your playing and your tone bro. check out my vids, the most recent im almost embarassed of because the amp is in dire need of a fresh set of valves lol. congrats in prooving the bogner xtc 101B as my new favourite amp over soldano avenger =]
again, bro i cant say how awsome your tone is, excellent!
I checked one out (Line 6 Spider) at Guitar Center before x-mas...sounded pretty damn good, actually! Line 6 makes some killer sounding stuff in my humble opinion...I use their effects a lot.
Best tone in the FUCKING world!!!!I have $2750 saved and i cant wait to get my head! Blows away, marshall, mesa, any other shit you can throw at it! I get so pumped when i hear this video, its the best one on youtube. This is the best tone i have every heard in my life. Its to bad those pups are about $400 a piece.
Jesus! Your Tone (with a capital T!) is phenomenal! You're a good player too, man. How many times have we youtube users looked to hear a high-end amp and the kid on guitar can barely play smoke on the water and it makes whatever amp their showcasing sound like a piece of crap. When I hear you Tone I can imagine Randy Rhoads loving this amp if he were still with us. (RIP) He's probably say, "Hey this is like my old Marshalls but way more reliable and no more muddy bass!" lol Peace, Dave
Hey, before I say this, I want to say I LOVE the Bogner Xtc Tone, but there are at least three amps I have heard personally that have the same complex hi-gain structure, No mush in the bass (dream on Marshall users!) and sustain for days. The Carvin v3, Mark Cameron Amps, and the new 5150 "3" Eddie designed in conjunction with Fender. Bogners are great if you have the cash, but certainly aren't the only game in town, and far from a great value.
I've have been told the uber has one of the worst clean channels ever, its a rather strange design compared other amps. But the gain of the uber is hard to beat for the heavy stuff. I get the impression the xtc covers more tones than the uber does, but thats just a geuss.
no but if ur paying that kind of cash its not unreasonable to expect a good clean channel, and alot of guitarists like to play more than one style. Theres no reason a high gain amp cant have a good clean channel.
wow!!!! that was excellent. I have been playing for 1 year and I am still lost. I copy SRV and EVH from CDs and tabs; will that take me to where you are? any advice?
Thanks a lot. Tom does not make his pickups anymore (he used to custom wind them one at at time), and they are getting harder to find and more expensive as time goes on.
Where is your mike? A thousand miles away? Bogner's are the best but the signal is so far off you just might as well plug in a Crate amp! Close and distance mike that killer of a son 'o gun! Nice licks!

What a fucking awesome crunch ton. Not a fan of strats, I usually stick to teles and les pauls but that right there is awesome. Great playing, great setup...GREAT
Thanks, Man...you will not be disappointed with this delay or the BBE. I set my excursions to Loose for a deeper tone, and the Brightness is on 2. Post a video using your new stuff when you get a chance. Funny thing is, your videos have inspired me to get a Fulltone tape delay the next chance I get! (Awesome tone on your videos BTW.)
Imagine your sound going from "small" to HUGE, Dynamic, and more defined...projects like you are playing in stereo. Best 100Bucks I ever spent on anything for guitar.

It´s not necessary a high output pickup and a high gain amp. It´s a mistake.

The spider valve cannot compare to this since its digital and sounds fake no matter how many power tubes they put in the preamp.

does the line 6 spider valve (bogner designed) even really compare to a real bogner? or is it actually considered good like a real bogner amp?

if i was loaded id by both as well as a metropolis for super clean and uberschall if i ever get depressed haha
