Classic American movie. Even if Clint never acted, his contribution to American cinema is right up there with anyone. This is a personal favorite. What a wistful song.
@WorldWar2Boy I meant it as a figure of speech, like Theirs my good old car or my good old friend, it doesn't mean to be old just a classic in a modern day if you know what I mean.
Clint Eastwood is my favorite actor. like the chuck norris remark he's right. this was a good movie.i used to have 1972 Gran Torino sure miss that car . same color green as in the movie without the laser strips
I can't believe the bitch ass Academy didn't even nominate this for Best Original Song in 2008. This is one of best and honest songs I've heard period. The Academy can make me sick sometimes.
This song brings tears to my eyes every time I know it's kind of a weird film but in the end it could be the best ever this man was a racist hated everything and then died for the people he hated he had finally found compassion and love in his heart just an outstanding film and song
This song gives me chills and makes me want to cry as I listen to it turned all the way up in my head phones on my cellphone on youtube slowly drifting to sleep as I picture me riding down this long windy road with the windows down, wind in my hair, and the sun peeking perfectly over the trees as it sets . Yup! The good ole life . Clint Eastwood out did himself once again ! I love a true master piece and real talent . He, among others, reminds me of why Hollywood stands today . Much respect.

Forgot to mention below MY PRIDE & JOY. It's 'MY' Grand Torino and 'MY' baby, a 1991 Ford Corsair Ghia in tip-top condition with just only 74000 miles done in 20 years. Anyone trying to steal it would be dead meat.
I'm an old army veteran and I'm not ashamed to say the movie and the song always brings tears of pride and regret to my eyes. I play it several times a day first thing in the morning and then, rain or shine I'm able to do my daily march around the park, body firm and head held high.
This song, and the Gran Torino slowly disappearing in the distance beside Lake Michigan (I think it is) is the perfect end. It's like a somber homage to the waning magic of America in the 20th century; the old standards growing tired, the future so incredibly uncertain, and the muscle and drive of the country aging not-so-gracefully, but the torch still gently burning, not about to give up its flame. Clint's gravelly voice is oddly just about the ideal one for the song, too.
Such a truly touching movie. Looking at faces that don't look like yours and cursing a changing world. But finding that you can love someone different and then giving a selfless gift. The song is perfect for the movie.
this song is so manly!...waw mr.eastwood great lyrics i guess all what i have to do now is to buy a gran torino! haha<<<actually i'm not kidding i'm gonna buy it haha
ps. i definitely like you voice but don't do another one it's kinda cool to remember only with this one you know?
Clint's personal growth shows up in "Bridges of Madison"..: BUT he still Delighted us with the Encore of the Dirty Harry Character, in "GRAN TORINO" . What a Mind Blower!!! I just watched this film and was at the edge of my seat. What a beautiful movie and this song is so great. I can't quit listening to it. Clint is so good in this movie. So are the supporting actors. Clint, you are so good. What a great job.

a ghetto in chicago, an alleyway in glasgow,
when will we leave the knives at home.
downtown san francisco or the suburbs of london,
what has our beautiful planet become.

just watched this film and it inspired me so much, absolutey fantastic film, inspired me to pick up a pen and my guitar:
4 corners of the globe and 2 hemispheres,
we live in a world of war and needless fears,
when will we reach the peace on the horizon,
before another life is taken by the bullet of a gun,
never mind the politics, the army or marines,
when will we get rid of the war on our streets,
black, asian, hispanic or white,
when will we learn there's nothing more valuable than life.
..

I just watched this film and was at the edge of my seat. What a beautiful movie and this song is so great. I can't quit listening to it. Clint is so good in this movie. So are the supporting actors. Clint, you are so good. What a great job.
