Hi Dave, thanks for this nice explanation! Its already the second time one of your episodes helps me out :)
One thing I am not understanding completely yet is this: I used the Animatte effect on a rolling title at the end (should only be visible in a certain part of the screen). Worked fine, but it also had a "cropping" effect on the layer underneath (another title, just a square). You happen to know why it effects the layer underneath?
@chuckkahn Hey there. Do you mean the Alt+C trick at about 7:55? This allows you to mark a section of the timeline and not only copy it to the clipboard but also load it into the source monitor at the same time. Please let me know if this does not answer your question. Cheers...
I've been an Avid editor for a short while, and I read all the manuals and a few guide books, yet you showed me at least two helpful tips and tricks here which I hadn't thought or learnt about before.
This will come in very handy, thank you very much!

@navad4now The best way to apply an Animatte shape to a title is to apply it only to the graphic fill inside the title. To do this...
1: Enable segment mode (yellow or red it doesn't matter)
2: Double-click the title in the sequence to "open" the title.(expanded nesting)
You will see three tracks appear above the track containing the title; 1.1, 1.2 and 1.3
3: Apply the Animatte to the Graphic Fill on layer 1.2
4: Draw the matte shape
Hope this helps.
