Ultra External Hard Disk Enclosure

Hi I have an external hard drive and I was doing an online backup which failed. I tried to eject the hard drive through the computer and it said the external hard drive was in use but there was no backup being done. I manually shut off the external hard drive and now it isn't being recognized when I plug it in and turn it on. If there any way of fixing this problem? Windows was not able to update the driver.

I own one of these from years ago, and in mho, it's a piece of plastic and that's it. Much nicer all metal enclosures out there. And the fan he points out is so tiny it's pointless. Just my opinion. Best.

i have a question for you...well a couple.. if i use my old hard drive as a new external drive as a slave drive, will i be able to keep my files on that old drive or if i have no choice but to format it and will it wipe out everything. there is a lot of family photos on there. my video card went out and i wanted to get rid of the computer, but i would like to have my photos off of there. or is there another option

I have 2 hard drives on my first computer with 40+160+120 so that 320GB, then on my second computer I have 10+6+6 so 24 then on my third one, I have 2 Hard Drives with both 40 Gig and then my external has 500 then add it all together, then I have 320+24+80+500 so that 924GB

I don't have any large unused hd's ,but I do like this device b/c I only have usb 1.0 ports but i do have fire wire which has a max speed of 400 kb/s and the ability to link other hd's together is nice. I have a 232 gb western digital my book drive all i have to do is plug it in and it installs it self it was around 120 CD and I can get a terabite for about the same now so your product is nice if you have a hd but I like my my book better no fuss !

I don't have an external harddrive & this video was very helpful to me. He does talk fast doesn't he ? Also some of the comments were helpful as well, such as the one about the holes in the case for air to circulate. Thanks all.

Buying one or even two of these is a no brainer. Just be careful when installing the hard drive. Don't "forceq" anything. It's easy to break the led bulbs, if you do. I've got four of these babys and they're great.

Got that hard drive enclosure recently and it's good - but there's a drawback, you have to install the drive carefully or risk damage. Other than that, it's a good product.
