This all seems insane to me. It is a bit like "I wish for world with no war, and I have no idea how to achieve that, so I'm going to jump up and down 8 hours per day. Then, I'm going to call that 'jumping for peace' and film all that".
More personal freedom is nice, but how walking X miles helps achieve that goal? You say you raise awareness? That's nice, but you're raising awareness about one man walking X miles. Where's "more liberty" in that story?
@bugogorac the point is, the man is walking 3000 miles to get to a state which has more people with a limited government mindset. more than that, it allows a lot of time for thought, and to grow perspective. people sometimes forget how much burden and regulation is involved in our daily life. if YOU like to live that way, then i guess this didn't quite hit the mark, but for me, this looks pretty spot-on.
Check out our idea for "limiting" government. @GaGirlie777 I moved to New Hampshire from Southwest Florida about 3 months ago! I lived in the heat of Florida for 27 years, the same goes for my girlfriend (who HATES the cold).
@GaGirlie777 : It's a filter of sorts - those who prioritize climate over liberty probably won't be the most successful reformers. Besides, we have 6 months of great outdoor weather, no air conditioning required. Also, we've invented indoor heating here and we're warmer than most of Canada.
@realrockvince I'm also from Florida (the panhandle) and seriously considering making the move. Today I learned that there quite a few tech jobs there. The biggest problem would be finding a place to stay.
@Helionaeic Oh dude, don't worry about that! Finding a place to live is easy. There are TONS of websites to go to, visit freestateproject (dot) org and click on "Moving to New Hampshire" then click on "Housing" for help.
Honestly, if you're serious about moving here send me a message through Youtube and I'll help you! That goes for anybody else who's reading this. If you're serious about moving to NH, message me and I'll help you as much as I can.
@LibertopiaFilm Yes, I liken being ruled against ones will to other things done against one's will... "liberty" is very different than "more liberty than less" ... if a person agrees that governments are OK so long as they are the size and the shape preferred by the observer, that person might well be more interested in liberty than Bush, Reagan, Paul or Obama, but the are not 100% in support of liberty... kinda like cancer and pregnancy ... some folks feel a little bit is OK and other are ..:)
Absolutely! Free staters welcome everyone who opposes violence and bigotry, and who will "work towards a society where the maximum role of government is the protection of life liberty and property"
That's "maximum", remember -- you can believe in far less, and fit the description. Personally, I oppose all aggressive force.
@LibertopiaFilm The government isn't the sole source of authority. There is authoritarianism found in capitalist workplaces and in many other aspects of capitalist systems. Look at landlords or bankers (usurers). Who has more authority in those relationships: the boss or the wage laborer?
If you want a truly free market ideology, abandon capitalism and look into mutualism or something similar. But if you want a society truly based on liberty, capitalism has GOT to go.
@juliaisafilmbuff123 I agree that the government isn't the sole source of authority, but the examples that you bring up are voluntary situations. If your employee is being a jerk, then you have the option to quit your job. If your landlord is being unreasonable, then you have the option to rent at another location. But if the government does something that you disagree with, you do not have the option of choosing a better government in your area. You are forced to fund them. This is the problem.
Govt is ARBITRARY authority. No one else on your list can change the terms of a contract and then punish you for not following their new rules that you never agreed to or even knew existed.
The only way anyone gains "authority" over you is by your consent, except govt.
You're bashing "capitalism" again without understanding what it is.
Capitalism is what you get when you leave people alone.
If I've grown potatoes, and you've sewn pants, and I need pants and you need potatoes, what's wrong with us trading? If you've got time, and I need help on the farm I've worked hard to build, what's wrong with me trading you some vegetables for some help?
What we have now is absolutely abusive, I agree -- most of these major companies rely on government power to obtain preferential treatment and block competitors. But there's nothing wrong with people freely trading.
If you want to join a commune, or move near people who agree with you, and form an alternative society by voluntary consent, I'm all for it. If you're going to forcibly prevent people from trading with their neighbors, or take people's property by force, then I've certainly got major problems with that.
@LibertopiaFilm There's something bittersweet about 'limited government' the fact that so much effort needs to be exerted to keep the State in a preferably limited role when theory and history teaches that it is always the tendency of states to grow in power.
@Worldslargestipod There's many things wrong with limited government. The lifespan of liberty is relatively short, as government expands when the society becomes successful because after all, government is a mooching, vampiric leech on everything not corrupt and wasteful. I don't yet know what the solution is, right now, beyond dumping the government altogether. That doesn't guarantee a free society either, as somebody can assert themselves as the government. Sigh. Life is weird.
@LibertopiaFilm That depends on if you limit the *people* through the constitution, as well or not now doesn't it ? ;) (If we have to be all philosophical about it)
@shepardh1 Some are for complete liberty. Some are for limited government. There is a continuing tension there, with the former constantly gaining ground on the latter. Of course there is a difference! Even the minarchists know there is a difference between what they seek and what the anarchists seek.
government does go to far with alot of everything, and i agree we should live and let live our own life what we believe and feel, religion, war, and government should play a part.
@WWECOVERAGE The question is not whether there should be government, but whether it should be a monopoly forced upon people via the an implicit social contract. We want competing service providers for justice, law, and defense provided just like any other economic provision with expclicit contracts. The ability to fire service providers is vital to peace
@Maat922 We are submitting to the fests now! We will definitely premiere early next year... Stay TUNED! Thanks for checking it out - every person counts!

rofl is this serious? this comes off as a socialist commune.
libertarianism still requires you manage your resources effectives and efficiently with common rules, i wonder how this is going to work.
