  • love the look of this footage, always such a beautiful surprise. i wish i could play with my 8mm stuff more but its so expensive... of course not the same as have actual 'old' dated footage like this. hoping to find someones old film cans someday

  • Hey, nice video. nostalgic! I also found an old 8mm film at my granddads. I posted it as a videoresponse. Check it out, if you are interested.

  • why not normal film speed?

  • didn't these hippies see the "no bathing allowed" signs around that fountain?

  • love this place x

Please come rate my music . subscribe whatever say hello x Andy.

  • Wow- A lot of the comments here are really silly: I live in San Francisco right now. I can walk to Golden Gate Park in the next 15 minutes and see plenty of similar beautiful things, clean as a whistle. Keep in mind that a tourist would go to the park, and not to the Tenderloin. The latter doesn't look good now, and I'm pretty sure it didn't look that good then either.

  • @AgentXPQ You haven't lived in San Francisco very long. Golden Gate park is near two of the nicest neighborhoods in the City - The Avenues and Cole Valley. You need to take a walk in the Haight, Western Addition, Tenderloin, Inner Mission, Bayview or even Market Street. Most of San Francisco has become a dump.

  • That was classic.

  • San Francisco was beautiful. Ruined by horrible people and wing nuts now.

  • @SeminarioMAE Are man you gotta be kidding!!! I'm going there this year. I hope I'm not dissapointed

  • Haters always seem to focus on what was lost or what they fear to lose, rather than putting in effort to make things better for humanity as a whole, without killing off an entire race, taking over resources in the name of manifest destiny, or planting the seeds of future haters. Honestly, life is hard enough as it is for everyone.... EVERYONE. This video is just a glimpse of the past... nothing more. Take it at face value, learn from it, and move on.

  • @rkmugen "Haters" has now become an instant code word for folks in any of the following categories:

    1. Marxists (& Socialists, Bolsheviks, & Stalinists)

    2. The cousins of #1= Liberals

    3. Advocates of gov-forced race mixing

    4. Anti-Americans

    5. Anti-Whites (including Liberal Whites, who hate themselves)

    6. Anti-Israelis

    7. Radical feminists

    8. Radical environmentalists, like the carbon freaks

We are watching you all---You can sense what is coming in this country: Civil War 2

  • This must have been before liberal progressives, gays and social programs took over

  • it was clean but hippies had no sense they lived by the john and yoko lyric

  • now it's san fransicko.

  • I'm writing a novel and it's about a single man working in modern day San Francisco (2009 to be exact) and he runs into a young scientist in which he's looking for someone to take his pill that will take someone back in time. The main character accepts and unaware it will take him back to 1967 (the twist will be that the scientist had no idea what year it would be) where he becomes friends with a hippie girl (who has a working class job) and her three friends (two men, one girl). Good idea?

  • @EricandDish No.. he will figure out the year soon enough. allow him to know the year but can't get back to 2009. But why 2009? why not 2011 or something. By the way. San Francisco time travel has been done to death in a few films. Why not a coastal city like Bodega Bay or Santa Cruz.. Santa Cruz had lots of hippies in the day as well

  • Yes, people, on average, were much better dressed then than they are now.

  • @PolieCat Yes people were much better, smarter, healther, less violent, and I can go on and on about how the world was a much better place than it is now.

  • @MikeHF and the coloreds new their place. ah i too miss the old days.

  • @MikeHF Not sure why you believe all that. Strange.

  • LOL I keep thinking about fort minor...... The film is good i wish films of today play around with color and composition instead of relying on high definition cameras .

  • HEY! There's ME!!

  • 50 seconds, nice stingray bike with a banana seat.

  • Too many transplants have trashed SF.

The place was really a jewel in the 1950's early 60's.

  • True. My parents lived on Page st in the mid 50's early 60's then moved because it was becoming unpleasant.

  • Wow that was not that long ago, but everyone seemed dress better and take more pride in their appearance back then. The steets look cleaner too. Everything actaully looked more civilized and modern back then than it does now!

  • to wjb4341: Without actually saying it you articulated something very well......" the break-down of society" Yes....things were nicer back then.

  • @wjb4341 It was also before the obesity epidemic, or dieting as an obsession.

    People seemed healthier as well.

  • @wjb4341 The casual way of dressing in Tees and Jeans became popular in the late 70's and 80's

  • Look how clean everything looks. Such a trash heap now.

  • @clarkewi

    because mexicans now live there

  • @clarkewi Hey! Clarke, You need a vacation. . Why not go to London, or Paris (San Fancisco was thought to be the Paris of the United States!), or Sydney. . When you come back you'll be happy with the modern-day San Francisco; such a great place even now-a-days. . . Cheers. from, del-boy.
  • @FriendLondonFriend No thanks. I lived there from '75-2005 and first went to San Francisco in 1959. Moffet Field to South City was tidal flats. Marin County was uninhabited except in Mill Valley, Sausalito and San Rafael. Market Street is now a homeless hell with Haight Golden and Gate Park. Castro is full of AIDS dying. The Mission is full of gangs as is the Bayview and Fillmore. Only the rich can afford San Francisco now. And you can't park ANYWHERE. I'm in New Zealand now and much happier.

  • @clarkewi Dear Clarke, Thanks for your message. I'm glad to hear you're in a better place. I have a cousin in N.Z. I have never been but I've heard that it is a pictureseque country with very civilised people. . Most places to live are becoming crowded and scruffy. Living for 120 years is a possiblity, will N.Z. still be nice up untill 2070, or will lots of new people and development will go there too? Is there anywhere else, after N.Z to go to? Do you think? . Cheers. from, del-boy.
  • What's the song?!

  • They're garageband samples.

  • how is called this song?

  • English fail.

  • ok i have to lear you lenguage some day haha

    wtv

  • there is always lots of time to learn :)

  • I love these old 8MM films they are a window into the past. The gal at 0:30 is a hair-hopper! And I used to have a spider bike with a banana seat and a sissy-bar! Thanks for the memories, Love it, Love it

  • dude...they had better cameras back then...if i tape something with a 8mm film today would you say the same?

  • Omagosh! I guess I did live during the silent movie era!!

  • wild!

  • The music is nice

  • wow. they must have used one of those older fashioned cameras to film this. this kind is from like the mid to late 30s

  • to yeawomen: this was recorded on an 8mm camera of the era.....I think 8mm film was in use from some time in the 1950s to about 1970, roughly. Generally these movie cameras were driven by a "wind up spring", not batteries....pretty primitive but worked well enough
