As far as I can tell, the music is from a Picwick LP called "Sounds of Star Wars". I remember having it when I was young. Basically the Star Wars sound track modernised for the times and with musique concrete in between most tracks! Coooool! So exited to hear it!
@23Kosminski Thanks a lot. This version is taken from the album "Space Sounds Unlimited" by the BMG Ariola Miller GmbH. It also includes Star Trek, Battlestar Galactica and so on. The booklet names the composers only. I have the theory that this complete album was performed by a single guy and his synthesizer.
@leerat Forgot about the turret. One barrel of mine was missing. I also had a second hand X-Wing without any guns but that didn't hamper my fun. Did you have the shuttle Tydirium? That was awesome, too.
I used to have this when i was little. I spent many hours playing Star Wars. Unfortunately it has been lost over the years but i'm glad to say i still have most of my figures which my son is just starting to play with. I had a look on the legs of the figures and they have the date of 1977 on them. I was 5 :)
i love this playset!!! had many happy hours as a kid playing out scenes from the film :) i remember it cost £8.25 which was a lot of money at the time !!! oh happy times.... :)
@DrGull1888 me and my bro got this 4 xmas in the late 70's in australia. now my niece and nephew play with it 30 + years later. it still has all the parts. i liked pushing luke, han, chewie and leia down the plastic tube that goes into the trash compactor. you can slide the panel across to simulate the "compacting". those were the days.
@LiteracyLabyrinth2 I bought mine second or third hand on a flea market and it had already been in bad shape. So it didn't survive my childhood. Those pictures were sent to me by a friend who remembered that I once owed one.
@dabrookman Thanks a lot. This version is taken from the album "Space Sounds Unlimited" by the BMG Ariola Miller GmbH. The bookled states the composers only. I have the theory that this complete album was performed by a lonely eastern European guy and his synthesizer, perhaps in his mother's basement.
Damn!! how rare is this?,,i used to have one of these as a kid, i think if you renamed the video to 'cardboard Deathstar' it might generate more interest,, im really suprised at 486 views these things are ultra rare indeed and are golden items for collectors to have,, is this an original? is it yours?
No, it isn't mine. I got mine second hand on a flea market. But sadly it was in bad shape and didn't survive my childhood. Those pictures were sent to me by an old friend who remembered that I once owed one.

@leerat I got mine from a flea market ~ 25 years ago. I paid 10 Marks and it wasn't in good shape, too. Sadly it didn't survive my childhood.

Cool. I always wondered if there was a Death Star playset from the original movie.

@HearingLossProvider Yeah, there was. But as you can see it was cheap cardboard and it became quickly rundown.

My ears bled the first time I heard it. But it's no match for "Empire on Ice".
