Submarines are the great equalizer in naval combat. Even an older diesel-electric can be very dangerous against a surface fleet as long as it's crewed by skilled submariners, a savvy commander, and is fully operational. A sub must be undetected until it can initiate the engagement and remain in charge of the offense. If it is detected before it is ready to engage, then the sub is at a disadvantage
Dear Leader needs to keep his subs in tip-top shape and ensure his commanders and crew are skilled
@datzfast I disagree. I was in the U.S. Navy Submarine Service during the 1980's. I was a sonar tech and there are still forces in nature that work to our advantage
Chinese subs penetrated and surfaced inside one of our carrier groups very recently! They let us know that their cocks are as big as ours. In 2003, the Navy did some exercises with the Aussies and their old Collins subs. The Collins boats penetrated, attacked, and got away. In 1989, Dutch boats kicked our asses!
There is no shortage of military battles where a better equipped force was routed by a lesser force. Morale and the will to fight for a noble cause can overcome hardware shortcomings.
The DPRK's forces are certainly motivated and believe in Dear Leader. The West, esp. the U.S., has only imperial aggression to offer. An invasion by the U.S. and S.Korea would be suicidal.
We would, instead, use soft kill weapons, drones, and chimera virus plagues to do them in. A coward's victory.
i've heard that north korea has such old and bad ships that a tiny south korean frigate can totally own the best ship in north korea (excluding submarines)...its kind of useless to use an aegis destroyer that south korea has to get that one little tiny north korean ship that does everything by hand to shoot while south korean navy shoots naval guns and stuff like that all by computer and technology...poor north korea...
oh , now the little fucker wants to play a great admiral in the brainwashed peaples navy, how emotional does one get about some dead fucking commie geting on a boat nearly 40 years ago? honored with the title of old Dung heap, 7th regiment ? what an honor for the hungry sailors with no shoes or navy beans to have! My god ! what a glorious country you have. to have such amodern diesal sub to roar around the sea in acting like no one sees you, you have outwitted the s koreans, nippon and the US

Subs still count!
