I agree with you,@BelAirBuddy, I've heard the original but when India came out with this one I was going through a particularly hard breakup. It's nice to hear this song because it reminds me of that time and how life is so much more beautiful now. I appreciate that beauty so much more because of that pain. I met, fell in love and married a with a wonderful man after that. I am truly blessed. Anyone that is going through something similar, know that things will get better!

This version is pathetic compared to the the passion original, it sounds limp and lame. She has even copped out by doing it in Don Henley's original key (D major) instead of doing it higher in a woman's key (it's always easy for a woman to sing in a man's key), with all the tired old 'breathy' stuff in it in an attempt to give it some feeling - it comes across as false and "twee" in the extreme.

I have to say I have heard this song many times, but never really paid attention to the words until recently. Anyone who has not gone thru a loss can't even begin to understand. The heartache takes hold and consumes you, until you feel like you can't go on. But it gets easier, you just have to believe that, and take it day by day. One day you will realize you feel a little better and even better the day after that. This songs speaks to what needs to happen to move on and be whole again.
