I am fairly sure this is more broken than the Wii. Hypothetically Nintendo can still make new hardware with new bootloaders, Sysmenu, IOS, etc, which are secure. All PS3s have to trust everything signed with the insecure key - even if they later use a new key that isn't vulnerable and they do use it properly, new consoles will still have to support the old key or dump compatibility with old PS3 games.
