this may be the last time in society where glamor, actual talent and a true message were combined into one. These guys are not only cool but smart. awesome
Great video & Song. My favourite 'alienation' song. American business snap up Van Goghs for the price of a hospital wing Classic! Have embedded it on my site greatprotestsongsDOTcom/list-of-protest-songs/ Can you make sure this is OK with you? If not leave a message at the bottom of that page and I will remove . If you do like the site, please leave a message on the page anyway and like it on FaceBook;-) Thanks
Noticed they missed a verse and chorus before the middle 8.. Telephone exchanges click while theres nobody there.. the marshians could land in the car park and no one would care closed circuit cameras in department stores shoot the same movies every day while the stars of these films neither die nor get killed just survive constant action replay..
I've grown to really enjoy this one.......Thanks Mr. .....wow, enjoyed the wonderful book...Do you look like dad??? I'm so proud of you, but not surpised :) :) :) Look forward to the book of you. A happy Viking cares of you :)
@pattipie100 \ love this song and looked at for my daughter to cover, but intrigued by the "happy Viking" bit...son o mine is a Vike of two years, and now I've been drawn in, I would be pleased to converse!
Love to sing along to the Chorus its amazing with all our advancements in Technology and Medicine and yet this Song still Has Relevance to this very Day
Looking forward to seeing Justin with The Ryan Quigley Big Band and Orchestra - a tribute to The Beatles - at Glasgow Royal Concert Hall on Fri 8th October 2010.
Justin, Carol Kidd, Jacqui Dankworth, Julie Fowlis and a whole load of other guests and full string section - gonna be awesome! In aid of Yorkhill Children's Hospital
is it just me or is there a classic case of top of the pops with singers not singing. he has no mic on his shirt or in front of him or the rest of the band. Define greatness, the lyrics of this song with Del Amirt singing
Back in the days when top of the pops wouldnt let someone perform unless they mimed. I remember lots of artists took the piss with it so they stopped it
I've always liked Del Amitri & one of my favourite songs by them is 'Be My Downfall'. I thought they wrote good lyrics & turned out some good songs & I also think they were very under-rated. They did kind of make it in the States which is a hard market to break. Watching this video though makes me laugh a bit because it makes me think of my sister & the massive crush she had on Justin Currie at the time. She's now married with 2 children but I still like to kid her on about it from time to time.
I completely agree with boonersalmon's comment regarding this song.
This song (and the whole album for that matter) accompanied many a night of heavy drinking, debate and "righting the wrongs" of society...Ahhh, the life of a student studying sociology at university in the early '90s *lol*.

This one of these songs that will always linger.
First of all, the musical level is very high! And second (but not the least) the lyrics are something that one cannot walk around. It is sooooo true!
All the respect.
