    This one better be real!

  • Hi i'm stuck one the first step.

The two first screws are turning but not coming out.

    Any quick tips?

  • @unlockandgo i bought a replacement glass panel, it came without the small ribbon cables attached. its just a peice of glass, can i still use this? or is it useless? iv repaired screens before, but mostly the whole thing, not the glass seperate to the LCD

  • make money online! no skill just patience /watch?v=BMPhsRN19Ms

  • I got it all working. One problem. The phone no longer dim's when I put the phone up to my ear. So now when i make calls my ear and cheek constantly hit the mute button therefore making it a pain to make a call. Any ideas?

  • MISOPHONES●COM

    UNLOCK YOUR iPhone #FTW

  • dude- did everything you said and now i have a white screen with bulging black spots and lines going down the left-- why did this happen!?

  • the phone is on screen is fine but when i tap the screen a diffrent app opens up like the tuch sensor is off by a few boxes any ideas??

  • my girlfriends phone is back!!! and ready to be dropped again!!!!!

  • This looks harder then I expected

  • Great walk through.

I just change my first iPhone 3G screen. No problems.

    Thanks

  • I did everything but my home button is not working what can i do?

  • @naipaul44

Your pins on the home button flex are probably bent or broken.

  • @naipaul44 shoot yourself then the phone

  • @naipaul44 Actually, the new glass for these can have a very tight fit on the Home button. If the placement of the new glass is not perfectly center on the home button, then the glass will be touching the home button and putting friction against it so that it will not move. Too late for you now, but since the adhesive is fresh, you can firmly nudge the glass literally thousandths of inches in different directions until you feel the Home button loose. Nudge in a direction, check, and try another.

  • NICE BRO

  • What kind of source of heat is used?

  • TNX a lot, i made it, tnx to your video, from colombia, grettings XD

  • have you got a link so that I can buy the tools needed?

  • Thanks dude.

  • did it in 3hrs - perfect video!

the glass removal takes app. 1 hr.

  • thank u it help me alot!!

  • Any idea were to find only the front glass for an Ipod 1st Gen.

    Nice vid.

    thanks in advance,

    Chears

  • Use a suction cup to lift the glass to avoid damage to the chrome.

  • Great video. I had no trouble other than the usual micro sizes. Problem: When I tested it before putting in the last two screws, I noticed that the touch pattern isn't right. IE touch the messages icon and get the app to the left of it. Did I do something wrong or is my new glass the wrong one? Is the glass the same for the 3G as for the 3GS?

  • @seaberthere2

Id say that you got a bad digitzer. First check to make sure the #2 Compression connector is secured, Otherwise order up an OEM screen. Copies are HIGHLY unreliable.

  • @Unlockandgo Dude, how can I find a genuine oem glass digitizer? Also, if u know, I restored my 3G with iTunes and not its asking me for a SIM to activate the phone, Ive done lots of researches but cant find a way to activate it. I dont have att SIM.

Do u know how to activte it or maybe point me in the right search direction? Thanks in advance.

  • @Unlockandgo what if the # 3 connector is a little chipped on the top of it the connection is fine but the thing is a lil chipped my proxy sensor works but not the eapiece nor the speakers?

  • Just opened up my iphone 3gs and number 3 doesnt have a flap.

    Anyone else had same problem?

  • @liamjclarke

Sorry to say, but someone broke your iphone. the ZIF connector is what connects your earpiece to the phone, without that, no sound from the earpiece or proxy sensor. Youll need to get a different phone.

I can repair ZIF connectors, but I dont currently have a source for the part needed.

    Good luck.

  • the bottom part of my iphone is not touch no more what i did wrong?

  • @xxxcagonxxx25

Try disassembling it again and clean off the contacts 99% sure it will fix it

  • wt about to just change front case do u just now swap bits over?

  • I think I may have fried my iPhone. My screen stays white-and only white. I was having trouble with proximity sensors (same as justinfann101) and one of the times i opened up the iPhone i think i turned it on (not so hard to do) and therefore disconnected cables 1, 2, & 3 with the power ON. now my screen stays white... i've tried reconnecting the connectors (#1 specifically) with no luck. Did i fry my logic board?!?

  • update: the screen now stays black.

No light, nothing. Could unplugging it while powered on break the screen or the logic board? I'm guessing its the LB because the touch does not seem to work, nor does sounds. the phone vibrates when it gets a call but will not ring (no it is not in vibrate mode).

  • hi i had the same problem with one of my iphone. the lcd screen was bad. i replaced it and worked just fine.

  • update: i just didnt connect the number one wire properly. so everything worked fine

  • Excellent...thank you

  • Comment removed

  • i did this and it technically worked well. but i have a problem. somewhere in the process the LCD either shorted or i cracked it trying to pull it from the main display. i got everything back together but theres a medium sized white spot on the screen. not horrible because its easier to replace that as well but now the touch screen doesnt respond so i cant turn the thing off or do anything? did i reconnect something incorrectly? even so i cant turn it off to even try to look

  • I replaced my glass yesterday and phone works perfect, except for one thing. Before when on a call and put the phone to my ear the screen would black out so you don't hit any buttons accidentally. Since I replaced my glass, the phone doesn't black out when I put to my ear and I am hitting all kinds of buttons. What do you think I missed?

  • i love you unlock and go.. worked perfectly!!!!!!!!!! yay its like i have a brand new phone

  • Is it real glass or just a plastic glass??

when im taking apart the cracked glass from the frame, DO i need a heatgun or a hair dryer??

can i do it without a heater???

  • I always use a heat gun on low to heat the glass and heat up the adhesive (double sided tape) that adherese the glass to the midboard.

Its glass, not plastic so be careful!

  • How hard is it to get all the broken glass off?

  • almost impposible

  • Its not too difficult if you heat the adhesive beneath it! Make sure you clean the midboard well of all residue and glass so the new one is secured and fits properly!

  • @Unlockandgo what type of heat source is recommendable

  • sigh.....whoever put my phone together stripped 2 screws so the entire process is lost for i cannot by anychance remove them to replace my screen

  • dude, if it was stripped when you got the phone, you should bring it to the apple store and get your phone fixed by them. tell them that you got the phone with the screws stripped, leaving you without any other options for fixing it yourself or by a third party vendor, thus making apple responsible.

  • woaaa sooo easy...thanks a lot...

  • finally some one who show you what to do.....thank you so much. not an easy job and time consuming but possible. thanks to you i now have a new screen

  • This will work for iphone 3gs right?

  • yes

  • I don't think it's a good idea to use a metallic (conducting) tool to pry off the cables for the iPhone is still powered on when you open it. Shortcuts welcome ;)

Luck, if everything is working after replacement ...

  • i am completely confused now that you are sayign you are replacing the digitizer too. wtf!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The Digitizer is attached to the Glass making it a "touch panel".

  • can i use these instructions for my iphone 2g 4gb?

  • No,

2g iphone is different and much more time consuming!

  • The video was easy to follow but NOT as easy as it seems. you definitely need some experience with taking apart i-phones. I bought my boyfriend the touch panel and it was so difficult to get the first part of the i-phone open that he broke the rubber seal and the prying tool, and while he was trying to gently pry the LCD screen apart he ruined the LCD display which is now covered in black liquid splotches. this cost him an i-phone.

  • mine must be stuck by super glue, and the clip under the screen fell apart

  • This tutorial was awesome!! I replaced my glass and it worked perfect. However, I thought I would be brave to try and repair an iphone that wasn't recognizing the sim, so I took it apart, but now that i unplugged the cables and reattached them, the iphone doesn't want to come on (this is on a different iphone than the one i replaced the glass on),so i took my iphone apart so that i could compare, i unplugged my cables and now my iphone won't come on after plugging cables back in. please help!!

  • ALL you need to do is check that all the ribbons are connected, put the screws back in the case. Hold down the Home + Reset buttons until your iphone does a hard reboot. You should then see the apple logo pop up.

For the NO Sim issue you can only do a DFU restore and possibly replace the headphone jack. Im not sure why I had one that was shorting the board. Try the logic board in your working phone and diagnose from there. Hope that helps :)

  • how do you fix a water damaged iphone? what parts do i need to replace?

  • Id have to see it to fix it. Id start with replacing the battery and charge port. that seems to fix things about 50% of the time. Make sure the board is COMPLETELY dry before doing anything! Either put it in a bag of rice or dip it in Isopropyl alcohol to evaporate the water. Its worked for me, but this advice is of course at your own risk!!

  • I wanted to thank you for your excellent tutorial! After watching some of the other you tube repair videos I was very hesitant to attempt this on my own. I was shocked at how and easy it was to follow your instructions! I had my son hold the hairdryer while I slowly pried off the glass at each end. The heat helped release the glue that holds the glass to the frame. It took me about one hour and alot of patience. Just like new!

  • If your screen won't turn on after you've replaced all the cables, try holding the sleep button+home button for 10 seconds. This will perform a reset.

  • ASDFUIL, thanks for this, i was about to give up, and go to the shop. i thought i did something wrong, when i saw your text here. Good one!

  • Hey how much will you charge me if i want a new lcd screen and 2 new touch panel glasses shipped to australia.thanks heaps

  • you should really note that you're replacing the glass screen along with the digitizer. This really screwed me over since I didn't know the screen was so damned glued to the digitizer below.

  • Sorry about that! The Part i use is Glass & Digitizer. It is nearly impossible to replace the glass alone

  • Is there a difference between the digitalizer and the front glass? And what did you repair then? Thanks for a answer!

  • no the digitizer is the part that can be cracked.

    there is the lcd underneath.

If the lcd is broken there will be like weird colors or black lines on your screen. If there is spidery cracking than it it the digitizer

  • useless answer, seriously

'the part that can be cracked" WTF!? moron

  • i think you got the wrong guy lol

  • ok, the weird thing is, i took my iphone 3GS 32GB into a apple store, was told they could swap my iphone for a new iphone for $229+tax (i was told this by a few people who work there) so i made an appointment because the store was packed and came back 4 hours later my appointment with the genius bar and they made the swap with a brand new 3GS 32GB for 0$

has i am walking out of the store, my friend told me that i never paid for it lol, im thinking did they screw up,but the bill says 0$ owing

  • useless answer

  • i did this to my iphone a few weeks ago. a good tip is to use a suction cup to help you lift the screen from the case when you get the two screws out of the bottom... the awesome part about doing it in this manner is that the gasket around the screen wont get damaged.

  • do u do send in repairs

  • Hi!

Yes I do mail in repairs. Its same day turn around in I get it before 12 noon. Mail in repairs are 85.00 plus return shipping, you choose how you want it shipped!

  • I can't say thank you enough for this video! Excellent directions in both parts and worked EXACTLY like shown! Thank you so much!!

  • This is the best one on you tube -- the others were making me crazy! thank you.

  • is this the same for the ipod touch?

  • Best glass removal tutorial on you tube. Thanks
