Hey faulknep1, yup, same artist did one of the 1st covers of Dylan's Times They Are A-Changing in 1965 as Peter Antell on Bounty label. Stirring version I'm looking for, too. Night Time was a fluke-- Pete had 10 min of studio time left and said, hey studio guys, give me some background dip-dip-sha-da-da-das, we're gonna do a demo. Cameo love it, as is!
@1945bm I know he sang with the Chants in 1960. Antell & Linde wrote this and Linde was also a member of the Chants along with Mickey Lee Lane. Look at the date on the record, 1960, my guess, the Chants?
I heard on CKLW in September 1965 "The Times They Are a Changin" by a singer with this name. Same artist? Anybody ever heard that version? I'm looking for it still.
just heard this song on an old aircheck of Dan Ingramn from WABC in NYC back in 1962 ,,, love it,,,does anybody know if the song is available on a CD at all ??i'd like to track it down it looks like it may be a tough one to find thanks
@jsemancik1 ..you remember the HOA show and of course our "cousin" playiing all the great music when we were crusin' looking for those beautiful chicks. I remember Dan Ingramn too and that aircheck sounds like a treasure to have. About Night Time and this may sound nuts but...The book store Barnes and Noble also has a hughe selection of oldies but ya just need some patience looking for the one you want. Found a few there so ya might try it since you seem to be a fellow Jersey boy or a NY boy.
As popular as it is in the Pittsburgh area, it seems strange to me that Night Time barely managed to get onto the Billboard Hot 100. As I recall from my Joel Whitburn reference, it was on for just one week only -- at #100 -- then disappeared.
The Percells did a song called Boyfriends, it was copied from Night Time. It may be possible this is what you may remember? If you can't find a copy of it, send me your email.
I have a copy of this on Cameo at home, but first heard it on Don K. Reed's Doo Wop Shop on WCBS-FM in NYC. I do remember that it did make Billboard's pop charts briefly. Wonder who the group is singing on this gem!

That augmented chord at the end of this ballad makes it really special... an under-rated classic...

I have the same record by Pete Antell on the same label. I believe it came out in 1962. Great song to slow dance to.
