Does anyone here know why paganism is made out to be evil? The catholic church, wanted to evilise other religions and therefore as paganism was the most popular following -particularly in rural areas, they decided to make them out to be bad and evil. They were so bigoted and sectarian, they passed other religions off to be bad. With the crusades, the spreading of lies and the witch burnings which are particularly relevant here, they didnt half show who the real evil do-ers are.

Man made religion of paganism? It had been around for tens of thousands of years before the bible. If anything, the Abrahamic faiths are man made and the "pagan" religions was how the divine had revealed themselves.
Aside from Yahweh the Bible mentions 27 other Gods and Goddesses by name, along with talking about giants, satyrs, unicorns, dragons, cockatrice, talking animals, 900 year old men and people changing into animals. If the Bible is truly a divine book of truth, then you must believe all this is true, including the Pagan Gods like Diana and Mercury that are named. Otherwise the Bible is simply a book of myths. It's either one or the other.
There are over 4000 different religions in the world today, many having been around longer then Christianity. Deities existed before Yahweh appeared 6000 years ago, and many of the myths in the Bible are found in other cultures which predated the Bible. Knowing this, I find it hard to understand how Christians can claim that Yahweh is the only God to exist, and that he leads the only true religion. The Bible is simply another collection of Middle Eastern myths gathered from earlier cultures.

The Holy Bible has the songs and proverbs written by King David and King Solomon; but like any expression, they are tales of woe, corruption, and people finding ruin. King David was a war hero, and his own king attempted to spear him through; and we see nothing but conflict for that King David and his son Solomon. We don't get to Heaven by works, and law is only a sign-post of sin; only through God in the name of Christ can we see the truth.

Does anyone here know why paganism is made out to be evil? The catholic church, wanted to evilise other religions and therefore as paganism was the most popular following -particularly in rural areas, they decided to make them out to be bad and evil. They were so bigoted and sectarian, they passed other religions off to be bad. With the crusades, the spreading of lies and the witch burnings which are particularly relevant here, they didnt half show who the real evil do-ers are.

Well myself I am much more happy now since I am no longer part of such a negative energy. Also being at a place to me is home. The peace and purity of my religion stows even stronger in my new life and home. ie Thailand. Even though It is not the religion here. The means of peace brings about a grerat energy inside of me growing the ever lasting energy more and more. They may try to kill us for eternity but we will never die and we shall always be strong.

Now, yes because it is older doesn't mean it is right, what I meant was they had it right in some of their religious ways, rather than creating a hell, or condeming others, in some cases at least.

From what I've read, there are no guarantees. Even in the Bible "in a religion" isn't an "ideal" way to have worship. Jesus in the Bible wanted people to have hope and beleive what he said and he promised to get people into heaven....So he offered a guarantee--I guess a promise!

Aside from Yahweh the Bible mentions 27 other Gods and Goddesses by name, along with talking about giants, satyrs, unicorns, dragons, cockatrice, talking animals, 900 year old men and people changing into animals. If the Bible is truly a divine book of truth, then you must believe all this is true, including the Pagan Gods like Diana and Mercury that are named. Otherwise the Bible is simply a book of myths. It's either one or the other.

There are over 4000 different religions in the world today, many having been around longer then Christianity. Deities existed before Yahweh appeared 6000 years ago, and many of the myths in the Bible are found in other cultures which predated the Bible. Knowing this, I find it hard to understand how Christians can claim that Yahweh is the only God to exist, and that he leads the only true religion. The Bible is simply another collection of Middle Eastern myths gathered from earlier cultures.

There are 2 different types of Paganism, you know. NeoPaganism isn't the same as the kind in the HB. To quote the HB about Paganism offers no good evidence against neopaganism. As someone pointed out earlier, the HB talks about ancient middle eastern pagans, while neoPaganism is based off celtic, norse, greek, etc.

The Holy Bible has the songs and proverbs written by King David and King Solomon; but like any expression, they are tales of woe, corruption, and people finding ruin. King David was a war hero, and his own king attempted to spear him through; and we see nothing but conflict for that King David and his son Solomon. We don't get to Heaven by works, and law is only a sign-post of sin; only through God in the name of Christ can we see the truth.

Furthermore, there are strong arguments against the Bible, namely textual criticism and paucity of archaeological evidence. The allegation for the Bible is that it is secularly historical. Mention of a king or city is not enough. Thomas Hobbes makes an excellent argument that Moses could not have been the author of the Pentateuch or Torah. That leaves the Bible in a very weak position.

@pb324chnm The Holy Bible is the canon of Christian belief, the words of the Holy Bible were gathered by the Disciples of Christ, and put together for public use when commanded by Emperor Constantine, who did believe in God. The councils went from about 325AD to 397AD, when the Holy Bible was published, and accepted as the Christian document. In the faith of God what was placed in the Holy Bible is what is considered the core of Christian faith, with Jesus Christ at the center.

Even John Calvin's Instituton of the Christian Religion is based more on the morality of the Havamal rather than Xianity per se. Calvin justified his positions from the Bible. The average person already agreed with this position because it was based on the ancient morality, the same as the Havamal was.

@pb324chnm We see the problem with your single, simple viewpoint that is yourself, as you named non-Christians a suffering people. Charlemagne was so much more; when Islam rejected the tribute, that is their custom right before war, because the Quran says money is worthless when held by fools (non-Islam), even keep you from holding agriculture as the fool. Tiny Christian faith in Rome found King Charlemagne, who found enemies on all sides killing his people; there is much more there.

@WOWJBEOWULF Now that you mention Muslims it seems strange that he dealt with them more humanely than the Saxons. Why should he make that distinction? Is it because Islam and Xianity are both monotheistic religions?
