Neil is like a fine wine that gets better with age. There is no need to further comment because the music speaks for itself... Billions and billions of stars...
The MTV live album is my first introduction to neil young so i heard this version first and prefer this version. But on the album its shorter. Thanks for posting..
i used to be (and still am) crazy about the sound of a church organ. When my dad noticed, he searched a whole day to find this song. And when he found it and let it play, i was really 'blown away'. I never forgot this song and hearing it now again... Words fail to describe my feeling:)
This is great, thanks to woever put this up here. The one and only version to hear of this song, IMO.
It lasts 2 minutes longer than the released version. I gotta say the edit on CD served a purpose; the last two minutes here are less intense than the first 4:30.
One of the most amazing performances ever, by anyone, full stop. And I'm not even a massive fan. But I did make a point of finding this video. Amazing, touching, disturbing?, brilliant.
i loved this verson he did it in his unpluged album was sweet ;] long live neil young long live rock and roll and long live rocking in the free world ;]
what a beautiful fragile vocal. The moment at end where the harmonica peaks is fantastical. Makes me see the futility of life weighed out with the advent of love. Shit im a mortal.
I am a blessed man. My church has an ancient pump organ in a small room near the sanctuary. I was there last Thurs.--messed around...played "Like a Hurricane" as best I could. Oh my...wow... Thank you, Neil. Thank you poster. Jeff Wilson, Portland, OR
And somewhere inbetween...that voice, as much an instrument as any. Reminds me of when I got married in 1980 and we had a friend play this on the church organ. Everyone went wild...the priest was not amused.
beautiful song!
Brings tears to my eyes every time i hear it!

This is so amazing!
The old man could play an umbrella with his ass and it would still sound better than many other strange attempt to play music.

I heard they had to take a semi-truck to this gig because Neil Young KICKED SO MUCH ASS! Even unplugged!

Same here, the MTV live was my introduction to Neil aswell. Got it from a friend and asolutely loved it. Probably my most listened to album ever.
I had no idea back then what a great journey he would take me on when i started to explore his truly amazing catalogue.

That was the most beautifully twisted version of this song. I'd love to hear Tom Waits doing his take of it with the organ.

Neil Young's lyrics blow me away!
The organ gives the song an ominous, swirling quality, like a hurricane!
