I was about 6 and I took a whole roll of film of The New Zoo Revue (I found out you can't use an Instamatic camera to take pictures of pictures on TV). My parents had just bought a new colour TV for their bedroom (19", with ''Instant On" - this was fairly new technology in 1973) and it had a bizarre removable glare screen, which only made the pictures I took even darker...

and 2) I have to go against the grain here.. I really, really hated this show. I was in the right demographic audience when it aired (7 or so when it came out and maybe 10 or 12 when it ended), but it (and especially the song) grated on my nerves.

I liked plenty of contemporary shows (Captain Kangaroo was a favorite) but this show sucked (IMHO).

Plus... Emmy Jo was WAY too hot for Doug (and I understand they were married in real life).
