  • Short skirts always!

  • I think Emmy Jo single handedly ushered me into puberty.

  • Who didn't want to bang Emmy Jo? I used to dream about kissing her legs.

  • Doug (Doug Momary) and Emmy Jo (Emily Peden), were actually husband and wife in real life. Freddie the Frog was voiced by (Joni Robbins), Henrietta Hippo was voiced by (Larri Thomas), and Charlie the Owl was voiced (by Bob Holt).

  • Mr. Dingle has Charger bolts on his helmet. YES!

  • The postman has nothing on Brent's rounding up the young bunch for tomorrow nights gathering...

  • The old toothless postmaster was none other than a young made up in costume CHUCK WOOLERY! who of course would go on to host The Love Connection

  • @luvtotruck It sure is and before Love Connection he hosted Wheel of Fortune for 5 years.

  • It's amazing what good taste in women I had when I was three.

I think Emmy Jo was my first crush.

  • @Cuteblondchick72 Henrietta She showed up on the dating game once. She's was a really cute blonde.

  • emmy jo can help me any time

  • Used to love this show when I was little.

  • I wish the 70's was still here! The peak of western civilization.

  • @Mojooverlord It always seems like it.

  • Love Emmy Jo's boots, but don't follow Mr. Dingle into the barn kids!

  • Emmy Jo is such a pretty chick especially her beautiful legs that turns me on right to this day. scence I was little I had a big crush on her.

  • What was th deal with short skirts in the sixties and seventies? The hem of that woman's skirt is like a quarter inch below her hoo hoo. Just sayin'.

  • This was one of my FAVORITE shows when I was a kid!!

  • Unreal!!!!! What an ANNOYING show. Hated it as 3-year old. Hate it as a 38 year old :) Nice to go back down Memory Lane tho'....... thx for posting.....

  • I remember this shoe from when I was a kid, it was a network show, today stuff like this is confined to PBS

  • @ralahinn1 Technically, it was a syndicated program that often aired on indie stations back then.

  • @RetroToledo You are right, I think the station I watched it on was an independent station. I wish television was still like that, I miss having local personalities except in the news

  • @ralahinn1 It depends though on what station had it on. Some network affiliates might've picked up the show as well in certain places that didn't have indie stations.

  • @ralahinn1 I do miss what TV use to be. It feels too generic and conformed these days.

  • Who knew that "Mr. Dingle" would become one of the greatest and most awesomest game show hosts ever!

  • Saturday morning Pink Panther, The Banana Splits, Buggs Bunny, The roadrunner. Those were great mornings!!!

  • OOOOhhh God. I used to suffer through this show every Saturday morning just to get to the cartoons! Chicago schedule mid to late 70's. G8 memories!!!

  • I wouldn't be surprised if Chuck Woolery himself wanted a piece of Emmy Jo.

  • ?!? Doesn't Mr. Dingle look a little like Mr. McFeely? Or is it just me?

  • best legs on TV ever!!

  • This show disturbed the hell out of me. To this day my nightmares always feature at least one dreary warehouse filled with weird shit.

  • Doug looks a lot like Fred Schneider from the B-52s in their early years!

  • For SURE !!! I bet Emmy Jo is still hot and yes, I STILL HAVE THE LP !!! One good thing about being a pack rat :-) you never get rid of anything !

    Thanks for the post !

  • i remember watching this every morning at like 6. it has to be one of the worst shows ever aired...lol

  • I was about 6 and I took a whole roll of film of The New Zoo Revue (I found out you can't use an Instamatic camera to take pictures of pictures on TV). My parents had just bought a new colour TV for their bedroom (19", with ''Instant On" - this was fairly new technology in 1973) and it had a bizarre removable glare screen, which only made the pictures I took even darker...

  • yeah ....that is my aunt lol and uncle actually the people not in costume haha.

  • oh my God...I had a crush on the female in this show when I was in Kindergarten or maybe 1st grade back in 70-71...would wake up early in the morning for this show not to miss her...LOLOL

  • im 43 and i was so into Emmy Jo.I was like 7 and she was driving me crazy.God bless the mini.

  • After the bar, I went to bed with Emmy Jo. But I woke up with Henrietta Hippo.

  • So this is what mf doom is mc'ing about on rhinestone cowboy...must be reminiscing on his childhood. In the uk we had jamie and his magic torch to fuck with are heads when we were growing up.

  • mini skirts and boots never gets old

  • Doug sang with the B-52s before they hit it big.

  • Did you see the fat rolls on the back of Henrietta's neck? I love this show. I didn't start watching it until I was 22 years old; of course as a repeat.

  • Do you remember when she was pregnet on the show? Only other childrens show where I saw that was Sesame Street.

  • Love seeing Emmy Jo skip in that mini !

  • Only one of Freddies arms works.

  • Was Freddy's mouth remote-controlled? How could the person inside the suit work the hands and mouth at the same time?

  • A little scary. Out of here.

  • @EdYaekle. Yea I agree with you. This was a lame show. The only reason this show as worth watching was Emmy Jo in her Mini skirt! I guess nerd ass Doug is still married to her and they are close to the 70 mark today. A 70 year old Emmy Jo might not be as enjoyable to watch?

  • Wow! I remember watching this as a kid. Henrietta was my favorite character.

  • 1) Yeah, Mr Dingle is Chuck Woolery

and 2) I have to go against the grain here.. I really, really hated this show. I was in the right demographic audience when it aired (7 or so when it came out and maybe 10 or 12 when it ended), but it (and especially the song) grated on my nerves.

I liked plenty of contemporary shows (Captain Kangaroo was a favorite) but this show sucked (IMHO).

Plus... Emmy Jo was WAY too hot for Doug (and I understand they were married in real life).

  • Some of the puppets remind me of Feebles.

  • Heneritta Hippo was the star!

  • Doug reminds me of a New York lawyer.

  • Freddie never wore pants.

  • Hope its not a bill love it( Mr Dingle)

  • I love this. I was born in70. Did it really stop airing in 75? Because I still remember it as a kid. Wow.........

  • I still LOVE this show!!

  • and I will NEVER understand how the hairy nerd with glasses got the hot chick!!

  • Man I used to watch this show!

  • The New Zoo Revue is now the Old Zoo Revue. Because this show is 40 years-old now. Just a joke!

  • I always looked fwd to this show!!

  • Man oh man, that skirt and those boots!!! What are you kidding me!?!?! TOTALLY HOT!!! I remember being a little kid... having no idea what the hell the feelings I was having were!! I just knew I dug it!!

  • @adambyoung same here , used to watch it every morning b4 school , i couldnt stop straring at her

  • why cant they make shows like this anymore

  • I had a NZR bookbag in first grade - 1974-75

  • i used to watch this show growing up the 70's, thanks for it posted on youtube

  • Awe! Such a wonderful feeling seeing this old time favorite.

  • I grew up watching this show , OMG !!! , wounderful memories , WOW !!!! , I used to always wanna be Emmy-Joe !!!!

  • Loved this show as a kid, but Charlie creeped me out!

  • I used to watch this every morning at 6 a.m. THANK YOU Leesd999 :)

  • Thats back when life was good and the ACLU stayed out of everyones business.

  • I LOVED this show so much! I still remember the words to the theme song.... Thank you for this.

  • My Emmy Jo obsession continues to this day.

  • @BorgMX5 I confess that while I was in college I'd tune in just to see

Emmy Jo. But I'm guessing I had a lot of company. Amazing how short that

skirt was, and even more amazing that few people were offended.

  • @BorgMX5 I can see why! That skirt of hers was cut just a little high for a kid's show, IMHO. ;-)

  • @BorgMX5 why?

  • I saw doug in a porno

  • Mr dingle was wearing a bike helmet before it became the norm some 25 years later.

  • Yes, Mr Dingle (Chuck Woorley) was a smart person back in the 70's

  • Love those go-go boots!

  • I wonder if mr. sex pervert thre ever did Emmy Jo,Nah he probably plays for the other team.

  • @puppetboyshow

Doug and Emmy Jo got married after the very first season, and are still married to this very day. I can't figure that one out, but that's what happened.

  • That may explain why she was missing the third season: maternity leave.

  • I used to want a dress like Henrietta's!!

  • This was so classic. I even had an LP record of this when I was a kid...wish I didn't get rid of it. No one I talk to remembers this, glad to see it here!

  • I loved the opening song I also loved The electric company

  • @MYSTIKALmonkey I remember this very well. Even Emmy Joe's hot boots!

  • nice! this is the coolest kids show. makes me feel 4 again...lol

  • Emmy sure worked those boots for all they were worth! And I agree with amaroq69: Freddy was pretty scary. Although I did like his 'house.'

  • That frog freaked me out back in the 70's & still does today!

  • WOW! I do not remember him lookin sooooo creepy. Looks like his eye might roll out of his head LMAO!

  • I always thought Emmie Jo was HOT

  • I remember HenriEEEEEtttaaaa.

  • Proof that I'm not crazy that this show did exist!!!

  • I loved the tree house when I was little. I used to watch this all the time!

  • I used to love this show! Freddy the Frog was my favorite! Thanks for posting this. It brought back a lot of good memories :)

  • Emmy Jo was really sexy...too bad I missed that as a kid...yet still something about her at that time....hmm, maybe I didn't!

  • OMG. That took me right back to '74. wow.

The last time I saw that I remember futzing with the rabbit ears to try and get the picture in. We had 4 channels on the best day.

  • I just had a flashback! Wow!!!!

  • I remember watching this show as a kid, along with Electric Company and Zoom. Those were my favorite show. Looking at this show now, these animals seem abnormally huge and I can't believe that is Chuck Woolery as the postman. Thanks for the memories

  • omg! when did this show air? i remeber watching it when i was a kids.

  • I do believe I busted my first nut watching this show and Emmy-Jo... I was addicted to this shit...

  • Are they really saying "Mr. Dingle"?

  • Uhhh...Nevermind. The Theme song IS up here! Thaks a mil!

  • I am actually looking for the theme song. If possible will you PLEASE post it?! I need it for a project. By the way, New Zoo was my favorite TV show as a child. MAN, could that Freddie The Frog sing!

  • i used to watch new zoo review @ 5:00 a.m. in the morning until my dad forbade me to watch 'cause it would wake him up. Then he forbade me to watch ANY kid's shows 'cuz T.V. is useless and I won't learn anything from it anyway. however, I can relive my childhood youtube style, 35 years later, thank GOD and amen! I would also love to lick maryjo's boots and have that fucking hippo shot to death! thank you for your cooperation-good night!

  • Comment removed

  • I know how you feel Zip, I was hoping that the owl would create a potion that could turn the hippo into a girl. Can you imagine that Zip?

  • This is the very first show I remember watching as a kid.

  • Do you guys know the mail guy on the bike was Chuck Woolery! Bet that would make great blackmail! LOLOL

  • OMG... at last after 20 years...

it's sooo nice to see this here.

  • How the hell did that dweeb Doug ever score a hottie like Emmy Jo? They were actually married in real life.

  • Emmy Jo's skirt is rather short, no?

  • I know some people look at this now a days with all the new "technology" they have had and think these are stupid! It is not, These things were a big step for TV then. Who know's in 20 years how your technology will be! But, for me, and ALOT of kids that were in the hospital during this time... these shows helped ALOT!

  • As a child this show used to freak the heck out of me!

  • Henrietta Hippo looks just like my sister-in-law.

  • i used to have a crush on henrietta

  • Emmie Jo is pretty special

  • Doug has the Groucho Marx look down.

  • OMG I keep laughing. I'd give anything if he would belt out a good "That's the most reDICulous think I evah hoyd!" Actually, Groucho would be ignoring the freaky animals and wiggling his eyebrows at the hottie the whole time.

  • The fondest of memories.

  • the camera should always be on the chick man. Thats what I thought when I watched this when I was 5

  • When Freddie says "Include me out" The writers are quoting Samuel Goldwyn.

  • yes Doug really was married to Emmy Jo. not sure if they are still married but they were when this show came out.

  • they are happily married 3 kids that all have their own kids now. woo . so creepy hearing everyone wanting to hit on my aunt lol.

  • was doug really married to emmy jo? they should put that into the show. then it would have been alright for them to sleep in the same treehouse.

  • Freddie sounds like BJ from Barney..

  • Mr. Dingle was played by Chuck Woolery!

  • OMG!! Really!! Chuck Woolery played Mr. Dingle.
