  • ha very cute!!!

  • "......we show the Gospel with it's own Monst-UH I MEAN SYMBOL!" It love that! LOL!

  • A more standard interpretation using the Bible to interpret the Bible is to understand Matthew, King, thus a lion (He's son of David, son of Abraham i.e. King of the Jews). Mark, servant, thus an ox (record of service not teaching, no geneaology). Luke, man, thus a man (detailed record of his birth, geneaology from Adam). John, God, thus represented by the creature above and eagle (He is God, no geneaology). This order matches the sequence of the 4 living creatures in Ezekiel and Revevelation.

  • I agree 100% with that interpretation. It makes the most sense. I think it's pretty darn goofy how people think differently. Many Church Fathers have had their own take, but the one you've mentioned makes the most sense.

  • that was awesome XD I lol'd

  • THE BOOK OF ACTS = The Flying Monkey Gospel!!!!!

  • .......The "Wizard Of OZ" Gospel!!! MUUHAHAHAAAAAA!!! ('Flash Gordon' or not)

  • I also have a thought about the use of the word "monster," which comes from the Latin "monstrum": that which is shown forth or revealed. Calling that lion a monster isn't too far off, as the symbols reveal something about how each gospel reveals Christ. In a way, Jehosephat becomes a "monster" in that sense at the end, and I can't help but hope he'll keep revealing some cool stuff to us.

  • Thanks Matthew. Always a pleasure to watch these. I've never thought of this in the many years that I've known about these symbols, but seeing those shots of the winged lion now makes me think of Mark as "The Voltron Gospel!"

  • Thank you for sharing, really a great work! Like it!

  • This video inspired my next tattoo!

  • May I add something that might be a wee bit...."heretical"?

    Those four beasts are also the symbols of the four fixed signs of the Zodiac.

    Eagle = Scorpio

    Human = Aquarius

    Bull = Taurus

    Lion = Leo

    Just an interesting aside.

  • ......or even the Four Elements: Bull=Earth, Lion=Fire, Human=Water, Eagle=Air.

  • Ah, but given the associations with the Zodiac signs, the human is Air (as Aquarius is an Air sign) and the eagle is Water (given that Scorpio is fixed Water).

  • True. I also agree.

  • All this time I thought it was "Jumping Jehosephat"! Now I see it is FLYING Jehosephat!! Thanks for your continued good work and creative approach to ministry.

  • Wow Father, "Flash"? LOL! Nice video, I didn't know about the different symbols representing the Gospels. You have fine taste in music.
