@m200mw I had an iBook G3 a few years ago, it ran TIGER, it had a 700mhz G3 with 640mb RAM, the minimum system reqs. for tiger are a 300mhz G3, 256mb RAM and 7gb of free Hard Drive space... And Tiger is still a viable and usable OS. What's wrong with the old versions of apps? They still work. I actually run Leopard on both of my Macs now and there isn't much more it can do from Tiger. Feeling stupid now?
@iphone3gtutsntweaks well then you should know that that os on such a low spec computer would run terrible, windows xp is optimized for low spec computers, so it would run much faster, and besides, he can now do so much more with it. the old osx/os's where terrible, they where very unstable, slow, and would close or crash 25% of the time when you went to use a program.

Are you kidding? I've got an iBookG3 (32 VRAM) running Tiger just fine! at first it was as slow as a turtle with arrows in its knees (get the reference?), but with a little RAM maxout it runs perfectly well, even able to run 6th generation games like Quake 3! Just thought I'd let you know.

Even if the XP was hacked and recompiled to work with PPC I doubt there would be much apps to use with it, since each one of those has to be recompiled into PPC, too. IMO Tiger is the most functional OS you can get on these older G3s... All the most recent apps you can get with Tiger plus the backwards compatiblility w/ Mac OS 9 Classic Mode.

What a good idea! I know that you are using remote desktop here but it is an awsome idea because you may need a Mac and a PC but you can use a laptop as windows on your sofa, in bed, at the kitchen table or even being silly enough, in the bath. You can use Mac and PC to switch between like playing a game, using Office 2007, Corel Graphics Suite X4 or something and you may switch backwards to mac for photoshop or something. That's amazing!
