  • this is one of the first vids i watched on youtube back in 2006....great shots man...and the music is sublime...it not only reminds me of how awesome it is to ride a train, but also the feeling i had back in 2006 when I first discovered yt! thanks for this :)

  • @chefjaike This was also one of the first "amateur" vids I saw in Youtube and, looking back from now, it played an important role in my behaviour both as a videomaker and as a guy who loves travelling. It's funny to read comments like "Bad image quality" from the french dude below... Back in 2006 when I saw this, the image looked pretty decent heh!

  • Qualité d'image pas terrible :-(

  • lousy video, can't see anything, withdraw it and re-do it

  • very nice

  • Privatization wont work. 1- The freight railroads that own most of the track will not allow it and have always said so. For privatization to happen they must be willing to cooperate. 2- We all know what happened to the railroads in Britain when they tried to privities them. Crash, burn, all were gone in less than a year. Finally, No form of transportation on earth operates without subside.

  • asnbdknsabnd

  • Nice video. A other way to discover a country. Unlucky the weather was rainy.

  • Viva IRAN!!!!

  • nice video, nice cool jazz, please feel free to browse my video , just follow the link....dojomania.. best regards..who are the horn players, and what is the name of that number?

  • Nice footage!

  • bellissimo !!! (complimenti anche per il commento musicale). BRAVO !!!

  • It funny!!!!!

  • I'm here for making friend with native English speaker, pls don't hesitate to connect with me,a funny guy from China.

  • Chicago..New York Which one is the armpit and which one the anal passage?

  • Newyork is the heart and Chicago...May be the kidney!

  • that's what i thought before going to Chicago. Now, i think Chicago is much better than NYC because you have nothing to miss and it's more livable city. Of course, chicago as kidney is not a bad analogy considering how important of an organ it is lol.

  • nice music..and video!

  • klemaks - why don't you like this video?

  • i love it! brgds

  • what is 'brgds'?

  • "best regards"

  • Do you like this video?

  • Love the trains, good choice in music, too.

  • th music sounds fammiliar to me, what is it?

  • the music sounds very "cosby show" to me. LOL

  • What the fuck is this shit???

  • Well, kid, it's not "Battlefield 2-Teh Pwn3d Life", a puerile war game, so it probably went right over your head.

  • $200 budget

My friends and I all decided to go out and make a movie. Everybody says they like it but we need an unbiased opinion. So watch "The Killer car", "The killer Car 2" and "The killer Car 3 the return of Spud" They open with the teaser trailer for part 3 or the Return of spud it won't make sense untill you've watched all 3.If you have to watch one of them make sure it's part 3,that's where all the money is. Hope to hear your opinions.

  • Shut up you moron

  • good

  • a man who doesn't travel is empty

  • jasonkanerichardson you talk straight out your arse lol

  • Great you came here to Chicago,,, congrads. You left the nastiest city and came to the best. Good for you. The video is lame,, and so is the music. lol

  • Chicago is still there? Wow! Who knew...or cares for that matter! HA HA. By the way,Champ, it's congrats...with "t".

  • Well done, excellent soundtrack. It's sad how many people don't get it...and then feel the need to embarrass themselves by posting...however, it obviously inspired them enough to write about it! Nice clip, thank you.

  • what the hell is tha crap?

  • WhoooooOOOOOOSHHHHHH !

  • I might be a bit thick but isnt the train going backwards?

  • I've ridden those very rails from Buffalo to NYC many times. Last time it rained, too. Great job. Excellent choice of music, too.

  • My Uncle Randy jerked off to this video twice

  • I disagree with most people's negative comments on here (no offence anyone), but it may be dull to some people, but who says everything should be exciting? Travel is just that, dull. And this video encapsulates this. Its put together well, I think the choice of music fits well, mellow jazzy track. What it does is summarise the day's events of the person travelling. I like it.

  • boring

  • gr8 place new york is.

  • kool shots but the music just gave me a headache....

  • sad

  • Ha ha Michaekus00sin you fail!, nice trip

  • Enjoyed the ride too, but your text supers are too dark and too short.

  • Haha, what a negro

  • che sonno

  • you must be a real beatnik =)

    what's the music?

  • i need to have this music!

pls tell me whose it is..

  • so an shit

  • nicely done video ...liked the ride

  • caseybob--

It's you're--YOU ARE. A contraction. Not your. Interesting that you'd be correcting someone's "spectacularly bad" orthography.

  • 4get wat the other ppl said, good video

  • maybe this is the real value of you tube?? you cant get this from your travel agent brochures!!!

  • It'll work if you're obsessed with your crush and have his/hear name all over your desktop yea, otherwise no. Grow up.

  • I really enjoyed your film and the music is perfect. Please ignore all the negative comments. This is one of the best. Well Done! David from Paris

  • uhhh... your. wrong.

  • i took a train from Chicago to NYC and it was great experience.

  • cooa, I love Jazz I like trains

  • Why are the most vacuous comments the rudest? Mmmm?

The music was wonderful and fitting. The only thing spectacularly dreadful is the spelling and grammar of some of the comments!

  • haha i said the exact same thing!!!

  • Its Jazz.

  • beautiful.

  • odd

  • it's rubbish the music is spectaculaly dreadful nd the light is horrid

  • your rubbish and your a spectacularly bad speller. grow up. you have no culture.

  • very interesting ,3 and a half minutes from Chicago to NYC,they're quick trains.

  • Whats the music? I like.

  • boring and music sucks

  • And what in your opinion is "good" music? Rap??

Give me a fucking break you fag.

  • nice point. rap... ugh.

  • Thank you for sharing your journey with us

  • Why are American trains so slow????

  • cuz you guys got the bullet trains...bastards...lol

  • Balderdash, why on earth would you want to leave Chicago? :)

  • Liked it - very Beat

  • Love the music... Wish I could get from Colchester to London as quick.

  • I guess the journey is the destination, as long as you're in NY state. lol. Ohio & Indiana must suck.

  • indiana does suck i live there LOL

  • NYC

  • wow, eactly what i needed on a dragged-out afternoon in New Orleans- got to get up the beautiful North and ride that train and

listen to jazz and rejoin the human race

  • Thanks for the nice train ride :)

  • very nice trip I have done it several times

  • Mesmerizing. Awesome music choice. Love how the snare evokes the subtle click clack of the train. What a great piece of historical documentation as well as art. I too love train travel and it will be a sad day when routes like this pass into memory. Great piece!

  • Great! I enjoyed that trip. Your video set could start YouTube genre - there must be millions of journeys round the world that are worthy of similar treatment.

  • very nice...was that the tapanzee bridge u went by?

  • I don't know. Maybe someone else reading this might know.

    Thanks

    Stevo

  • fantastic, thanks for to share the video!!! good job!!

    saludos desde argentina.

  • Very interesting, well done.

  • Gr8 stuff.

I want to travel from NY to LA by train one day. There's so much too see from a train. Any tips for me?

    Sönke

  • Brilliant and beautiful. I love watching the world go by on a train, daydreaming and listening to music. thanks for sharing that with us. As for auran5, who could be so sad as not to get it?

  • this is rather...stupid. who could be so SAD enough to make a video of when people travel to another city?

  • cool jazz!

  • bring

  • thk for making me share !! lovely music as well, bravo !!

  • Very nice, travel by rail! It's the best!

  • Wait! I'm looking into my magic crystal and divining secret messages from the ether.

This video was filmed before 11 September 2001 ...

Seriously, nice job. The magic of music, moving images, and editing (plus the move from the A-Ha video). I took the same trip (Train 40-late, ha!) in 1991, but sans camera.

  • Thanks

    Stevo

  • very well done video

  • lol(:

  • lool

  • nice

  • nice

  • nice ... nice music and so on

  • Neat! :)

  • This is really cool :)

  • whats if i dont have a closet?

  • cool!

  • zzzzzzzzz

  • Boring.

  • that was a great show until they replaced the original "Face". I want some trash bags! I ain't gettin on no plane!

  • LOL

  • It's a joke.

  • Very indirect route. I took a similar route with Amtrak from NYC to Cleveland and back. What a long, tiresome trip!

  • This is really cool. nice track, too.

  • i dont understund this movie :D whatever i like trains too but in Poland not in US! ;) i love travelling

  • lots of rain on glass. lots of track. thanks.

  • Ah, now I see in other comments the music was Bernie's Tune - I used to have the LP with that and other great jazz on it.

The journey was fun but a reminder of what a minimal train system we have...used to be much better. Now for decent trains you have to go to Europe - French TGV cruises all the way at 186 mph....

  • Ah, the great music! I haven't heard that in decades - the Gerry Mulligan quartet, right? Brought back memories..can't remember title: Walking Shoes? Bernie's Tune? Any Mulligan fans out there?

  • In 2007 a man from Canada got seriously pissed off when every asshole in world decided to do exactly what some other asshole asked them to do, because of some curse or some shit story about a girl with an unlikely name. Now I will go over to your house and beat you up with a wet napkin, unless you follow these directions precisely:

Never repost such stupid messages, no matter how fearful you are of dead people. Believe, threats from the living are much worse.

  • Amen!

  • yeah, sorry I had to explode here... just tired of seeing that damn message everywhere. Good film by the way. I also like them trains, you can check out my little film I made with some train pictures.

  • Thanks, no problem. I'm noticing people using YouTube to spam, go on racist diatribes or try to promote something other than video creativity. I don't like to censor, but when it's obvious spam or someone trying to stir up the crap to get some cheap attention, I give them the attention they deserve.

    Thanks

    Stevo

  • Good Point!!! Also change that to 2 men from canada. These chain letters are pissing me off too!!!

  • With a wet napkin??? o.O *head scratch then imagines how in the world it would be possible to be beat up with a wet napkin*...I watch too much a Scrubs. (although my imagination was a problem before then)

  • This is so cool. It's good for people elsewhere in the world to see somewhere other than the most obvious places in America. Nice one - well done!

  • That looks like it belongs in a PBS special somewhere. I mean that in a good way. Very well done, very professional looking.

  • i love trains. such a shame they're not as many anymore.

  • the sketch transitioning to the inside of the rail car is really innovative

  • take your camera to europe and travel the rails, would love to see that! great video here!

  • did you pass thru Utica, NY?

  • I think so

  • inconcievable consideration

  • something something

  • also incredible songs are bout trains

    jumping someone else s train

    star guitar

    station to station

    trans europa express

    metal on metal

  • thanks for posting

  • lol Y did this get allmost 200,000 hits

  • cos it's not some teenage girls dancing to a pop song and bouncing on their beds...

  • Very interesting. Loved the score! I found the Buffalo station footage about the most depressing sight I've seen in years. Please do it again on a day with less rain! Thanks for posting.

  • Great editing job and nice footage! Someone has some film school training that did this.

  • LOL Wow are you gullible!

  • LOL You are gullible. On the a mindless automaton would believe this.

  • im not really that gullible i know its shit but when i cant sleep at night because somewhere in the back of my head all those horror moves start to force to belive it could happen you end up doing it anyway....

  • Sure, I don't think I'll ever watch "<i>The Grudge</i>" again. Even though it is entirely <b>fictional</b>.

But those chain letters are purely text. Those who forward them on should be put in jail!

  • wow now ur gullible and paranoid.

  • I Loved It!!!

    Trains are the shit!!!

I love taking the Amtrak and the Metra

I also like the cta trains aswell

  • Trains rule. You can get from NYC to Chicago in 16 hours via train, and you get to eat dinner, sleep, have breakfast, and emerge two blocks from the Sears Tower. Take the plane from NYC to Chicago, and you get there faster, but you have to get to the airport, wait in line, deal with TSA thugs, hope the plane isn't delayed on the ground or in the air, wait in the air, land, wait some more, get a cab, and figure out where you're going.

  • Cool video!

  • I really enjoyed this, the music suited perfectly - wot was it by the way?

Good video but I kinda wish it carried on - I was so into it.... please post more.

    Thanks

  • The music was so perfect for the journey! This is one travel video that your friends won't fall asleep on while watching it! Thanks for the inspiration.
