I always felt sorry for poor Vitch. I also thought about what became of his parents. Did they die? Did they abandoned him? Did they simply didn't want him? Or did he ran away?

I thought about them too!!! I think that probably they die when Vitch was little kid. Why? Because Vitch never speak about parents, never misses thaem and it's like that Vitch was in a lot of gangs-because he knows who is "boss" and how to communicate with each other in band and can to "unswer" on insulting of beasts of Slagar's gang, but never answer to Slagar

Kids can be evil. There being bad isn't always there parents fault. He clearly gets off on toruring others even when he has nothing to prove. By the way, he probably killed his parents.

*snug* Yeah, I only read the book once for that reason. It upset me because Vitch wasn't really bad--a bully, sure, but not actually evil. He was as much a victim of Slagar's manipulation as Mattimeo and his friends. :P

What angers me about his death is that it was completely unnecessary. The only reason he was killed off was because Brian Jacques ALWAYS kills off the rats. Always. Every time. Whether they're actually evil or not. Which is why I no longer read his books--I love rats!

When I saw him - I began to worry about him - he was so..defenseless. He isn't good, but he isn't evil. And about Matthimeo-was HE good all sow?? No.Vitch is not with Slagar's gang(they don't like him) and he is not with Mathimeo and others. He is alone. And nobody cried when he died!(((Very sad for me was to see end of movie - when everybody is happy and Vitch died...WAAAAAAAA
