Crocodiles (salt water, especially), lions, tigers and other apex predators have individually killed hundreds of people each year, whilst sharks (tiger sharks, great whites and bulls) kill only a handful. Sharks aren't really man eaters either, unlike the other animals I mentioned, so I'd rather take my chances with the shark., though in the future that may not be the case as we continue to reduce food resources.

Its ironic that people regard sharks as evil, bloodthirsty creatures when there are only a handful of reported attacks involving sharks each year, when millions die at the same time due to fishing and shit like this. Maybe sharks have more of a reason to fear humans than humans have to fear sharks.

@Nocturnalzyx I probably wouldn't be. If one of my loved ones were being attacked by a shark, I would definitely save them by any means necessary. If I had a decent weapon, e.g. knife or gun, I would probably even try to kill the shark if I had no other choice. But tbh, a lot of shark attacks I think happen due to human stupidity, as I wouldn't dare go in the sea if I knew there were sharks inhabiting it.

@Nocturnalzyx Of course not, and yes sharks attacks are rare, but even if I was a surfer, I still wouldn't be willing to take the risk unless I was prepared, and from what I gathered, a lot of the people who have been attacked in the past weren't, though of course I'm not saying they deserved it, but then again, despite how dangerous they can be, it's not the sharks' fault. But yes, the fisherman are dicks.

Crocodiles (salt water, especially), lions, tigers and other apex predators have individually killed hundreds of people each year, whilst sharks (tiger sharks, great whites and bulls) kill only a handful. Sharks aren't really man eaters either, unlike the other animals I mentioned, so I'd rather take my chances with the shark., though in the future that may not be the case as we continue to reduce food resources.

The reason being that the shark has confused you for another creature and usually after they bite you and realize that you are not a tasty seal they pull off. In 2000 we had the most reported shark attacks for a long time, 60 people worldwide were bit, and 11 ended in fatality. Most years have about 40 shark attacks worldwide with 4 fatalities. So...
