Aria of Sorrow uses a Gothic type art style while Dawn of Sorrow uses an anime style for marketing reasons. Plus, this is the end of the game after Soma has absorbed most of the castle's power, and all the dark energy makes his hair go crazy.

@Alanjohnamerican Dawn of Sorrow used a different art style which resembled something from an anime, which was something really new to the series. It only lasted for two games until Order of Ecclesia switched it back to the original art style.

So, Soma actually looked pretty weird in Dawn of Sorrow in comparison to the rest of the series.

i think it was more of a mental fight between soma and chaos.

when soma "died", chaos just took over his body.

Chaos is more of a spiritual force. the whole castle is. Soma was already barely able to retain his identity when he awakened as Dracula in the throne room. (thanks to Arikado/Alucard slowing down the process with his powers) Loosing to chaos pretty much finishes the job and fully transforms him into Dracula. Its pretty much loosing the the evil spirit that was filling up soma's body.
