Ayurvedic physicians have researched the benefits of milk over the centuries and believe it to be particularly beneficial to children for healthy growth, women going through the menopause and older men to prevent osteoporosis. Milk can be beneficial for anxiety, stress and restlessness and can relieve hyperacidity and heartburn. We need to support the organic dairy farms not the run based on pharmaceutical drugs
Milk per se is not a "bad" food. What the greed driven dairy industry has done to it is bad.According to Ayurveda, milk is a complete food in itself and some of the ancient sages used to live on a diet of milk, fruits and vegetables. They are said to have lived very long and healthy lives, often up to 200 or 300 years. In Ayurvedic medicine, milk has been given the name Jeevani or “promoter of life”.
According to the world's most ancient wisdom books , known as the Vedas or Vedic literatures, the basis of the original holistic healing system, known as Ayurveda, the cow and bull were created to help humanity live a symbiotic life of self sufficiency. If you use the bull to plough your fields and milk your cow , that you love and treat with respect, then you don't need this scam called modern society where everyone rushes to participate in the petroleum and Monsanto destruction.
Oh hey! Have you thought about intellectus 424 diet (do a search on google)? Ive heard some awesome things about it and my friend lost lots of weight with it.
Useful information... Great! Thank you. I have been a vegan for 15 years. Improvements I experienced proved that this film is right. Actually it is wrong to advice the foods which are the result of suffering of a weaker being (Animals). No one should accept the torture inflicted upon animals when we have plenty of plant based foods, and can have more if we are sharing. God Bless.
Please take notice that this documentary was made in 1992. In comparison to modern medicine, half of the documentary is pure conjecture. The majority of India's diet is vegetarian. However, their rate of heart disease and cancer is no different from North America. Reducing the amount of fossil fuels in our daily air would definitely have an effect on cancer. We have learned so much more about general health since this video was made.
@chrisperdicaro .. quite the contrary, majority of India's diet is no longer vegetarian. In efforts to 'westernize' their country/culture diet, along with many other things, have changed so much that it assimilates to American culture. You will find that increase in heart disease and cancer is congruent with their efforts to 'westernize' their culture, with the edition of food chains like: McDonald's, Pizza Hut, Dominos, Baskin Robbins, etc.
a hamburger from time to time is not going to kill you, but we are eating way too much animal fat, sugar, fried stuff, and not doing any exercise, it's a recipe for disaster.
@aleterra A hamburger from time to time multiplied by millions per day, will kill millions of cows per year. Watch the documentary "Earthlings" .com or "From Farm to Fridge" found on you tube -- it's shorter. Sorry. I can no longer participate in that.

Well, many of my female relatives suffer from ostheoporosis and they all eat lots of fresh vegies and fruit, little dairy and meat products. So? Sometimes it's just genetic. Actually, my aunt's doc advised her to eat more dairy products!
Part 3...I am SERIOUSLY considering giving up milk...and maybe eggs. I will wait until the end of the documentary to decide. I am already for vegetarian.

I dunno, I like milk alot (I've been known to down 2 gallons in a matter of 3-5 days) and I'm not quite sure of any damage I might be doing, at least long term. I do know that I am 21 years old and have never broken or fractured anything ;) Maybe its just luck but I'd like to think the calcium has something to do with it haha.
I stopped drinking milk after I read "Fit for Life" Part II, by Harvey and Marilyn Diamond. I'm too scared now to drink that stuff --especially after reading that, in one study, a group of calves that were allowed to drink processed milk (which we drink) all died!
@VUandChips Recently made the switch from vegetarian to vegan. Once you have the conviction -- my conviction comes from animal cruelty -- you want to learn about all aspects. The health aspects only make sense. We're the only species that drinks milk as adults -- and the milk of another species no less. See the documentary "Earthlings" .com or the shorter film "From Farm to Fridge." You really should SEE that way what you eat (or drink) makes it to your plate (or glass.)

Basing your diet on starch? I think that's an awful idea! Why not leafy green vegetables and fruit instead?

I tried an experiment end of 2007. Gained 0.2kg of bone mass in 11 weeks, lost 2.4kg of body fat and gained 0.6kg of muscle mass. :)
