  • What lens did you use?

  • That doesn't look like a very effective bridge :D

  • Im selling my 500d..i want a 7D

  • What did you use to edit this? Cool video too!:)

  • bar habor

  • must read this. once u have started there is no turning back. a little 10 year old girl was raped and murderded in 1945. her body was not found until 1947. then a boy last week read this and did not copy and paste this message. the dead girl appeared in his room haunting him and killed him. if you do not copy and paste this onto 10 vidoes in 30 minutes the dead girl will apear in your room tonight and haunt you and kill you. well you better start to copy and paste

  • Cinema Tools Is Great For Slowing Down 60FPS footage To Perfect 24FPS Slow Mo All It Takes Is One Click!!!!!!

  • Wow, the quality of this is fantastic. Canon's DSLR line is fantastic!

  • DAMN!!! i watched it, and i was like WOW! :O

then i realized i watched it with 240p.

  • Nice video. Check out my action movie I filmed with the 7D called Cologne. This camera is amazing

  • awesome video but could u please tell us what song did u use ? :)

  • How exactly did you achieve slowing it down to 24 fps???

  • Can you really set the 7d to 24p and 60p at the same time?

  • What program did you use to slow this?

  • I got some 7D clips on my channel, this is pretty tight though.

  • yes ..i love the 5D but he doesn't have 60fps...does the slow mo in post production is good??and smooth without 60fps? and what about the 550D?^^

  • well i have a question....i am looking for a camera...and i love the video of the canon 5D 7D etc the slow mo is quiet good.

can you told me what do you think about those cameras and what do you advise me? panasonic, canon???

    thanks

  • @veniels the 7D 720p slow motion is quite difficult because there is alot of aliasing, the jaggies make it almost unusable in many cases. The Panasonic GH1 (with the firmware hack) has the best 720p and most detail of all the DSLRs. However, the GH2 was just announced and from the specs will most likely be the new DSLR king in this regard. Of course if you are a bit more serious about video the announced $4,999 Panasonic AF100 is coming too. The 5D is still the only one that is full still frame.

  • @veniels sony nex vg10

  • very cool....what is the music???

  • @veniels Di Burla In Burla Di Notte by Ennio Morricone

  • is this footage of thunder hole at acadia national park in maine?

  • Perfect video location

    Where IS that?

  • @justinlovespastry im pretty sure its thunder hole at acadia national park in maine

  • Creepy music...

  • What lense?

  • have you got a "how we did this awesome shit" video??

  • song???

  • Wow! As good as a hd camcorder, I'm saving for one! Good job akirawing!

  • What software are you using?

  • WOW!

  • is there a slow motion option on the camera, or did you edit it this way? and if so with what?

  • what music was playing?

  • Nicely done - great music, too.

I might trade my Nikon D80 and JVC non-HD camcorder toward one of these. Two cameras in one!

  • wooow amazing Camera!

  • If the camera can only record 60fps at 720p, how would you go about integrating that footage with the normal speed 24fps at 1080i? I'm assuming you could just scale down the 1080i, but there would be a considerable quality change right?

Oh and your footage looked very well done. Good job.

  • The 7D Shoots 60fps?

  • terrible video.

  • Wow this is great. What an insane camera right? I've filmed at 720 at 60fps with a 7D, but I was wondering how and what program did you use to change it to exactly 24fps? The only way that I've figured out is to stretch the clip in the timeline. I'm using Sony Vegas.

  • a bit overexposed?

  • Get someone to walk or skate through this while it's splashing. Would be epic.

  • perfect! looks very good!!!! i want the 7D now too :D

  • Espectacular!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Muy bueno

  • Is this Thunder Hold in Acadia NP?

  • Is this Thunder Hole in the Acadia NP?

  • What's the process for make a slow motion video like this. I have a 7D but I have no idea how to slow down the video in a way that is smooth and looks right.

  • Jeez, i love it! I want 7D! Did you change the lens or anything, or just filmed it with standard 7D?

  • i have choppy frames with cf 8gb 30mb/s.

    which CF card you used?

  • A little too bright... looks a little washed out...

    pun intended.

    Cool video

  • This is beautiful.

  • Nice video. The 7D is a sick camera. Check out the slow-mo test shots I took with it...

  • lenses please

  • thunder hole?

  • i am getting one in few days :)

  • @ajmedrama sameeeee!

  • Looks very nice I wish I had a Canon EOS 7D, but it's way too expensive! :P

  • actually its really cheap comparatively speaking

  • Yeah maybe it is. But it isn't very cheap for me :P

  • this is true for a lot of young videographers I'm sure, I will let you know there is a great little hand held camcorder by Kodak called the Zi-8, it shots 1080p .MOV files. (which easily transfer to computer for editing) and the unit cost about 200 bucks....its a great little camera for young videographers and want to be film makers.

  • I really want to take pictures as well, but you're right, it is expensive for a young guy. I'll wait untill after my confirmation, maybe I'll get a camera then. Do you know what confirmation is? It seems like no one knows. And I'm one year late with my confirmation too :P

  • Confirmation? Isn't that some type of thing you do after you're able to get communion and all that? I did it in the 7th grade but I didn't know what I was doing, my parents just made me do it. lol.

  • It's like you say that you belive in God, Jesus and the holy spirit (Or what it's named in English.) Because the church wants it to be up to you and not your parents weher you are Christian or not there for you have the Confirmation.

  • 550d!

  • @SuspendedLogic: I made a 7D Tutorial for slow motion (converting 60p to 24p slow motion) on Vimeo (remove spaces):

    vimeo . com / 8478419

  • does your tutorial works for other cameras that can record at 60p?

at does it works in sony vegas pro 9?

  • @MaxMultimediaHD Yes, the basic concept is slowing the footage down properly (from 60p to 24p, 60p to 30p, 60p to 25p PAL, etc.). Different scenarios are explained on the Vimeo description. Not sure why I got a thumbs down for my reference to the tutorial. That's the only comment I made here on YT about my tutorial...so it's not spam.. :-/

  • Stunning! I would be interested to see this spliced together with the full-speed version. I mean, I understand 60fps to 24fps means it's a little less than 50% speed, but I'd still like to see the direct comparison.

    Anywho, great video. Excellent quality!

  • It doesn't look gross u f n Haters. Slow motion Test! u geek.

  • 24p isn't enough for natural and smooth movements. 30p is significantly better but 60p is king 8)

  • 24p has been used ever since sound was introduced to film. Before that it was 16-18 fps. 24p looks great because of it's film look. 30p and 60p are good for documentaries. Plus if you make a good film and want film prints, than you need to go with 24p.

  • Comment removed

  • nice came..i should upgrade fro 50D to

    7D iguess.....

by the way....you Converted and slowed this clip by what software???

    nice work

  • its a camera?

    not a camcorder?

  • My 60p doesn't look like 60p when I go to edit. I slow it down but there are no extra frames providing smoothness. When I do a playback in slowmo in camera they are there. Can any 7D owners give me a step by step of what to do? Thanks

  • This video is a mess. You cannot even see the sea details. What I can see is a big piece of white spot instead of sea.

  • The video is to test the 60fps, not see the details.

  • I just bought the 7D, and doing some testings.

The slow motion you did is great. How you did that?

  • You shoot in 60 frames per second, and when you go to edit, you make a project in 24p and slow the video down until it is slow but but still clear and not motion-blurry.

  • @McKIllaG5 It sort of looks a bit colour-corrected judging by all the saturation of the video. I'm not sure if this is raw footage so the actual thing may be slightly different but I agree. It looks a bit gross.

  • It does look color corrected.

  • The SONY,Panasonic and JVC companys don't like videographers, they make HD camcorder for rich people. Why they don't make a 1/2 3CCD Shoulder Mount HD camcorder and record on a cheap media card around $6,000.00 dollars, but not, all that 6k to 8k camcorder come whit 1/3 stupid 3 CCD cheap. I make videos for living. This is the best HD video footage I see in Youtube and is NOT come from a camcorder, but a DAMM photographer camera.

  • @nelsonmilian00 That's why every day there are more films captured with PRO DSLR, as Canon 5D mk II and Canon 7D!

I'll buy a 5D II probably, also because of its video capability. With a DSLR i can shoot videos and pics. Pretty nice, huh? :)

  • This was one of the first high fps slow-motion clips I saw from the 7D. Thanks so much for putting it up here.

Question, did you ever find a good solution to the aliasing (stairstepping) in 720p? It seems most evident on the near railings on the diagonal high contrast areas.

Thanks again and all the best :)

  • I've read that you can add motion blur to the Chroma channel and reduce this.

  • Thanks onjoFilms :) I haven't found that information before. Have you had any success with the technique?

    Cheers

  • I haven't gotten the cam yet, just been reading up on it.

  • Blurring the chroma channel helps get rid of rainbow moire pattern issues on small detail shots but not jaggies so much since it's the way it pixel bins to reach 720p. The only way I know to reduce the alias jaggies is to up-res and experiment rendering footage to 1080p and then scale back down and render that footage back to 720p using mark's supersampling method watch?v=FDTCa8mXZOk a pain but it seems to work

  • what place is this?

  • *yawn*

  • damn i don't even like dslrs but this would be insane for video with some fast primes.

  • Hey all,

    i have a problem,

i have a 7d,it only shoots 50p, not 60p, but its ok.i cant seem to make decent slowmo i have FCE 4.0.1, and i've tried to download twixtor plugins, but they dont work (it says twixtor failed to render). is there a way i can make decent slow motion? when i slow it down using the 'speed' setting, it jerks and becomes unsmooth.

i'd appreciate any help at all

    thanks

  • @mimisico0417 you have to cram the 50p frame rate into a 25p timeline to get 50% perfect slow motion. what the speed option in FCE does is just stretch the clip out frame by frame, making it jerky and choppy. FCE doesnt have a way to compress the 50p to 25p, but i know that final cut studio does. it's called cinema tools and you gotta run it through that and have it play back at 25p

  • In other words, spend $1000 so you can edit and produce 60p? I don't think so.

  • no, faggot, spend about 800 (if you get the student discount) so you can do tons of other shit besides slow motion as well.

  • verry high color performense

  • just got my 7d last night, oh snap this camera is sweet

  • Great camera

  • how long can this camera record for? until the card's full?

  • I'm not 100% sure but I believe it's 5 minutes.

  • actually 12 minutes at a time minutes because of the 4GB file size limit

  • i got a 16g card on the way though

  • the bigger the better, will hold more video clips. I use a 32gb card. You just can't shoot for more than 12 minutes straight without stopping and starting shooting again.

  • None of us knew what compression was before we knew what compression was, right? Let a newbie be a newbie. Soon enough that person will know. It has nothing to do with dumb or smart.

  • thanks for sharing. i'm gonna get this camera

  • its $1700

  • less on BH

  • Great subject for testing the 7D video features!

  • Akirawing, could you please tell me how does this camera work with chroma key? I'm thinking about compression artifacts and so...

Even if it's imposible I'm seriously thinking of getting it!! Your video is beautiful enough to forget Red Scarlet! ;)

  • how do you slow it down to 24fps???

  • where did you get the camera this early?

  • Too much compression :)

  • WHAT? do u know what compression is? WOW we have a dumbfuck here.

  • Wow, thanks very much for posting!

a 60p slowed on the 24p timeline; how smooth is the sampling if you try to stretch it on the timeline to slow it down even more ?

    Thanks again!

  • that quality looks amazing

  • yes the 7D actually records at a higher bitrate than the 5Dmk2 because of the dual DIGIC 4

  • does it have rolling shutter?

  • mate how did you edit the video to make it look so professional? what features do you have to use?

  • Nicely done!!

    Tim

  • Looks great! Thanks for posting that. I'm officially going to preorder my D7.

  • you're welcome

  • Ah I've been waiting for something like this to pop up, looks great, and further seals the deal :D

  • cool, I this is always the kind of stuff I like to see when looking at new cameras so glad I could help out. Also check out my anamorphic lens test with the 5dmk2 in the video response spot.

  • Hey could you please explain what you have done? i want to upgrade to dslr and don't know much about these functions, cheers

  • also how did you get a 7d so fast.

  • this was taken with a pre-production model, not by me. I only converted to slow motion and re-colored it. Links to the original footage are in the sidebar.

  • how do you convert it. what program?

  • in Sony Vegas, drop into a 23.976 timeline then right click the footage, click "properties" then set the playback rate to 0.400

  • yeah the higher the frame rates compared to your base frame rate speed, in this case 24, the slower the motion. The new 7D will do up to 24/25/30/50/60 at a nice high bitrate.
