thats so sad what happened to the inisent people who got hit one time we had a tornado warning me and my sister went right in the basement but luckly it passed us safely but lots of trees in our yard fell down cuz it was so windy and a huge branch fell down in our drive way and no cars could get through and my big sister was at her boy friends but our neighbor took the path along the forest to get the branch out of the way but another storm came and the big tree in front of our house fell down.

@niflap yeah, but it's obviously a theory they investigated time and again, because of it was that simple then they could end tornadoes easily. But the larger the tornado, the larger the bomb needed, so I think that's where the idea would probably not get past scientists. But it is still not too bad an idea though.

Tornadoes to the tune of the Munsters. I can't help but wonder-after once hearing it suggested-if a big enough explosion went off in the eye of a small enough twister, could it dissapate the vortex w/out the explosion causing more damage than it prevented? Afterall, a twister is a mobile, ongoing IMplosion, whose orbital winds are perpetuated by the centralized low pressure. Maybe the overpressure could slow them down-at least temporarily, until the pressure normalizes. Mythbusters job..

The problem is the tornado is a very tall structure. A bomb could only take out a small section of it. If you took out the bottom you would still have air surrounding the tornado flowing in and a powerful updraft in the rest of the tornado above.
