When you play the riff in G7, aren't you really playing G7-C6? In other words, when you play the C chord, don't you wind up playing an A on the top string?
Also, what is the origin of the vocal melody you are using? It seems you are singing rather different notes from Junior Parker's or Elvis Presley's version.

No you wouldnt , you play the Cmaj triad with the G on top or in the bass.You could also play a C/E a Cmaj triad with an E in the bass.
As for the singing I wouldnt compare me to Elvis!!! I just try an do it....cheers Rob
