Why do people act like shakira invented bellydance? lol Belly dancing has its roots in various ancient cultures of the arabian peninsula. It was found and seen performed since 18th and 19th centuries, but it is older than that. In middle east society two specific belly dance moves are traditionally used in childbirth. Usually women perform this dance but men can also dance it, depends on the occasion.

I agree everything she's doing looks effortless, but it's not. She's always got a pretty smile on her face, she looks very kind natured at least by the personality she shows. She's a great dancer. Her costume creates the illusion of thinness by the cutouts on the side. Old trick, not to wear fluffy things if you want to look thinner. Don't give up! I'm also working with her DVDs. You have to really put your mind to it and practice for years. I'm sure even Sadie had to work at it. I listened to one of her interviews and she talks about having this super determination to get the moves when she was learning, so it takes a lot of work. You'll get there if you try hard!

Listen children: Sadie herself said she is from Wisconsin, born in Colorado. She says she had no exposure to the dance and took a class for fun. She had one American and one Middle Eastern instructor. She is very sweet and you can meet her and find out for yourself if you can stop fighting and find a workshop. Sadie's technique is incredible, and it appears Shakira definitely has her bellydance training too, JLo is doing Flamenco in this vid. and she is also very good at what she does!
