that's actually very proper to get your basics right before you start jumping higher. Beginner can mean many things - someone who has been riding for many years could still be a beginner if they have poor balance and feel, whereas some other people may ride more often/take more lessons and progress quicker.

the view was higher and you cold see through the ponies ears, very funny though. I wish that would happen with my instructer now...always does tell me not to squish her leg when she's sitting on the fence...
i would say it is way too early for this rider to start jumping. He was on the wrong lead, he obviously dosent feel it. And the no relase thing has to go! Work on the ground before you can be great in the air.

I dont jump that height so dont call it begginer cuz i train hard and i still dont jump that. A begginer is someone who just started riding.

I agree with 'alykenzie' and 'dieblauereiterin'.
He needs to work on his groundwork before attempting jumping.
He is not releasing and he is purly using the reins for balance.
Not at all good for the horses mouth!
