I was so, so shocked when I first saw this! I knew there were gonna be new titles, but this is amazing! I preferred the series 4 intro, faster and the music was more punchy. But I think this one was just so different! I'm surprised they managed to keep it a secret 'til The Eleventh Hour!
This one is okay, but a little cheesy, personally. I like the 2005-2008 theme the best...the one that carried season 2 and 3 with the Tenth Doctor :) Love David Tennant. I hope they do an episode when Matt Smith and David Tennant have to come together.
Okay, just watched all the intros all the way through, in order. Objectively, the 10th doctor's theme is my favourite, and the 7th doctor's theme is my least favorite. But I loved them all. :D <3
At least this version doesn't have that piece of crap intro that season 6 puts before the titles now. With Amy saying "when I was a kid, blah blah blah" no one cares, WE WERE THERE, WE SAW IT!
The 10th doctor was rock hard, when he spoke to river in the library he was the superior one to say it that way... and 11th one has a different connection to river. Just like amy said, she treats him like HEEL BOY!
@WaterElementall When it comes to the Doctor, isn't goofy a good thing? I mean Tom Baker's Doctor was completely insane and he's considered the best one.
@aquagrl63 One of the major reasons he was considered the best one, or is remembered a lot is because he was with the show for 7 years. SEVEN. That's a record to beat.
Matt Smith did ok not very well. He has a great writing staff behind him now. He seems as if he has the personality of a door knob. He is quite dry when he reads lines. This isnt a flame cause I miss Tennant. I miss Eccleston he was a good dark doctor and they really need to revisit that timeline and show us the darkness post timewar. And show the transition between 8 and 9.
Apart from the heavy drum beat at the start of the theme, does anyone else agree that this theme sounds even more like the older theme tunes (like the Tom Baker ones) when it gets into the main melody?? Anyway, love this theme! : )
Seriously, I know people like to voice their opinion, but come on! You can't expect every single ep to be brilliant! As awesome as that would be. But for all those who do moan, I would love to see you do a better job.
@HankJwimbleton876 well said and for all u hater quite moaning cos u are going to see matt a whole lot more and if u still haven't warmed to him u're no fan of doctor who!
At first I hated this new theme, but now it's not so bad. Also, Matt Smith is FAB and I can't wait to see how the storyline with the crack in the wall develops (especially now Rory has been sucked up by it.
@LeonSKennedy828 I agree. The Beast Below was dreadful. It was just a poor way to reveal it. It was great building up to it. But a space whale.. oh come on. The new Daleks look like bloody power rangers now LOL.
@Lakey64 I just hated how under developed so many elements were, why were the smilers dangerous, how did they have 3 faces, how did Amy know and understand The Doctor as well as she did in such a short period of time...it goes on.
@jampox101 I'm of the school of thought that Tennant is a better actor, but Matt plays the role better - they've each got that extra oomph, but in a different place.
And also...
@Lakey64 Yeah... I assume you never watched the stellar (if non-canon and obviously so) theatrical Dr. Who movies, which the Dalek designs are supposed to homage.
Respond to this video... sir may you be stripped of all youre geek points & reduced to rank of idiot for this is an epic intro....may you no longer be considered a nerd for you are now an ass lol
It's like a hammond organ demo. The Tardis is spinning through space being hit by lightening!! and yet it's accompanied by a slow jazzy number that apologies for itself by not being too loud. Well, my reservations about the logo have gone, and I thought the episode was spectacular. But I think the music's awful. To my mind, you either do a Delia and go stripped-back and sinister, or you go for all the bells and whistles like 9's and 10's themes. This seemed to be some horrid blend of the two approaches. I really hope they change it. Didn't like the vortex either, the smoke and lightning's terribly cheesy. And is it just me, or did they use the model of the old TARDIS in the opening?
I found the changes weird at first but got used to it fast. Although the David Tennant times will always be my favourite, I think the additions to the show so far are great. :)
I think its great, definatly more creepier and mysterious just what i wanted and expected from Stephen Moffat, enjoyed the episode and Matt (still mourning David Tennant lol) but i felt the same when Chris left so im sure Matt Will be great!, first impressions...good
I actually *really* like it. Had to listen to it about ten times to get into it (I expected as much), but now it's really grown on me a lot. Is that a sort of jig rhythm I'm hearing in there? Hard to tell and I'm definitely not an expert, but it does kinda sound like a bodhran drum playing a DOWN down up jig, doesn't it?
Hmm I actually dont mind it, has a hint of the McCoy theme tune in it (with out the wink thankfully :P ), first 15 seconds are a little odd, doesnt really work as a lead in and they could tone down the lightning sound effects personally.
CG Tardis is a little flat also, but the time vortex is perfectly fine to me, even with the lightning was looking forward to one more like the 3D trailer though in design. But hey its a title sequence... 40 seconds an episode it doesn't make. So who cares?
I koinda like it. I can get used to it. So people stop bashing it. I mean this is the 11th time they've changed the theme song and intro, each with it's own diffent critizations so get over it people it's new and gonna be here for a while. :D
