@Theycallmekim17 Black citizenship was just one point of the Dred Scott decision. The main point was that the Supreme Court established that slavery couldn't be outlawed in the territories. Slaveholders could take their slaves into any territory they wanted. This frightened the north because it was one step closer to allowing slaveholders to take their slaves into free states, which would mean that they were no longer free states at all.

Maybe the northern state should have purchased slave from south, and and freed them. Maybe this would have prevented a cilvil war between the states.
