Chose Queen's over McGill, UofT and UBC. Graduating now with huge regrets, not because it was a bad university experience (Queen's has great school spirit and community) but because of its slipping academic quality as an institution. Just in the four years, labs have been cut in first/second year and curricula/coursework degraded due to huge funding cuts/deficit. Please reconsider your other options!
@Douglas1102 I am not a Queen's Grad my the best doctor I have had was educated at Queens. I have had numerous doctors over the years. He was not just a great doctor, he was a great human being.
@Meh751 You stated not one of the best 10 in Canada. Times is American and you are talking of the World scale. I was speaking of Queen's rating within Canada (McLeans Magazine) 2010 Queens is third in Medicine and last year is was second in Canada in Medicine. McGill is right up there at the top too. I have two friends from McGill.
@mmcrosbie Did you go and read the Times study? McCleans is a student SURVEY whereas the Times is an assessment by students, professors and journalists. Times did the whole world yes, however they also nicely rank the universities by country so you can go and see the list. Yes McGill is a good university I never said anything about them, I was specifically referencing Queens. Also Medicine is a separate school within Queens and is not included on the study since it is not considered a program.
Funny but for the arrogance of the Queen's students I've met it is not even in the top ten Canadian universities for anything but their commerce program....
Oh... and don't forget to see how their diversity rating compares to other Canadian Universities, after having lived here I'm surprised they don't advertise the rating in this video :)
@Chloe110101 Well, I guess it depends on what you want. Do you want a sense of Ontario history? Then go to Queens. Do you want a younger university? Go to U of A or UBC. I live in BC and went to SFU, but I wish I had been able to go to an Ontario university (looking back), but I am of Scottish Heritage and I long for my roots.
@toldyouiwillgetcha I guess the only way you can find out is to apply to both universities. If you are living in BC and are accustomed to BC, UBC would be the easiest university to attend. Obviously, if you live in BC, and want to get into Queens it is going to cost you a lot more money - you need to travel and make a lot of changes - address etc. I assume you are coming directly from high school? If you are already attending university in BC and have credits, they may not be transferable.
Thank you for attempting to sway people's opinions by making up things that do not exist. If anyone is reading/watching this and wondering if they should go to Queen's - do it. The university is awesome and this person I am replying to is the first person I have ever heard say anything negative about Queen's. Good day.
anyone know where i can find pictures of the dorms? I've seen one picture an it was small and looked horrible. i know dorms aren't great but I've seen dorm much better than the one i saw for queens.
No school is perfect and all about the learning. There is going to be drinking and having fun, obviously. Oh, and engineers' pranks. But it's a promo video.

I have the grades to get into UBC, U of A, and Queens.
I will be applying to all those places next year...
but I don't know what I will choose!
UBC is my dream school but it is pretty far away from home (I live in Ottawa).
Any suggestions?
