Thank you for this video. I have been disassembly my bolt the hard way and this video not only makes it easier but I now know what the multi tool is actually for!
To ineedpaimtball you should have got.a kit with your rifle a small can for oil and cleaning solution ,the break down tool, and four small pieces for your cleaning rod. I would go back ton where it was bought and get these items. I uncrated mine in the gun shop the thug did not know those parts were there I dug thru the crate and found. Them all in the bottom folded up in paper with cosmyline. The kits are there if you seller doesn't know then tell them
just bought a mosin nagant myself, it's a great video. i really enjoyed that you did everything with the special tool that comes with it. was wondering, how far would you go to disassemble the gun when shooting the corrosive style shells? or would you highly recommend not firing those type of shells.
I just wanted to say after watching a few of your videos that I found them very helpful. I appreciate the fact that you use only the original tools to do the job and explain concisely but informatively exactly what you're doing. I get so tired of people posting videos of these things and acting like it's a speed drill or something. You do a fine job and I look forward to your other additions. Thanks.
When you used the combo tool as a wrench to remove the firing pin i was like, son of a bitch! I had no idea you could do that. Thank you so much it will make disassembly soooo much easier.
Wow! The way you disassembled the bolt was very different from everyone else. I'm also assuming that your way is the correct (military) way - no "block of wood" involved. Thanks, also, for demonstrating the proper use of the tear-drop tool beyond the firing pin gauge that exists.
I took my bolt apart all theway for the first time yesterday. I was loosening th firing pin and then it shot out about a foot and a half in the air! That spring is such a bitch..
You have such beautiful weapons to bad they don't sell these over here freely i would love to have one but with all that paper work and bullshit you have to get over here. You are living in the USA if i am not mistaking?
I dint have the tool to do anything. And I dident have anything to use to tighten the fireing pin. So I ended up useing my teeth. and yes it hurt my tooth
The the assembly of the bolt is complex but the function and design is simple.
the assembly is complex because its just simply different. Most rifles do not require that the firing pin be present as an essential part of the bolt assembly.
This and the first part have been of huge help to me. I now feel confident taking apart my Mosin and cleaning it properly, especially afer corrosive ammo.
Yes it can, However for the sake of cleaning at the operater level it is not reccomended. This is something that should be left to depot level maitnence. ;-)
Good info!

Is the bolt stainless steel?
Uder1710 1 year ago
@Uder1710 No, Mosin bolts are just polished steel. They can and will rust if not properly maintained.
