llyssaS:: Thank You very much for posting this. This is a Very Nice Tribute to both Ray Davies & Hollywood, Albeit away from Hollywood & Sunset Blvd's, Hollywood is a 4-Star Shit Hole! Unfortunate, but a stone cold fact.
@IlyssaS You're welcome; love the vintage shots of Hollywood. I am sure it was a nicer city before my time :)
Sad to see all the kids (runaways) who think they're going to get into movies only to fall prey to the pimps, chicken hawks & porn industry. They don't know what's out there.
@IlyssaS You're welcome :) have you ever been to Hollywood? Runaways thinking they'll hit the big time with pimps & chickenhawks ready to snatch them up, homeless addicts & teenagers turning tricks to survive along with foreign tourists on tours to look at celeb houses & a slew of actors waiting tables.
@80sbuttrock I realize that fully. lol He's mentioned in the song, that's why I put him there. And not everyone who gets a tribute has to be dead, you know! :P
Just a simple question to everyone. What do you feel the meaning of this song is trying to convey? I feel that the song means that even though we dont make actual movies, that most feel that their life is, in fact a movie. Worthy of all the hardships, struggles, and even suicides that regular people have endured. I feel that this says that we are all movie stars in life, even though we're not wanting to be. not just the rich and famous. Does this make sence? thanks, Shawn...
You did a great job on this, it's impossible to include everyone. I've been to Hollywood dozens of times and still haven't seen all the stars listed in the song. I've so wanted to do a video like this, so my admiration and appreciation for doing a great job!
Thank You For posting this is my fav.Kinks tune.I just saw Ray Davies in Atlantic City and sadly he didnt do this tune.Paid dibs to his brother Dave, Said there would never had been The Kinks without him.Heard Dave had a stroke and is not doing well back home in England.God speed Dave. The Kinks music is timeless.
From the book: ''Ray Davies: Not Like Everybody Else"
"Celluloid Heroes closes the studio sides with one of Davies most powerful vocal performances, with tonal shifts conveying reflection, vulnerability, irony, compassion and ultimately, desperation. 'When Ray put down the vocals to that, I stood an awe of the man!' said Gosling."
Yes, of course. The jews have all the money and the whits have all the power. Blacks get special treetment and are all druggies and crooks. All muslems are terrorists and hate America. All indians work at 7-11 and drive a taxi. All Aisians are here to take your job and every single christian person a Nazi. Get real man. None of that is true and when you enforce the negitive steriotypes then you just make yourself a massive target to get the SHIT beaten out of you.
I agree but it is twisted a lot. The stereotype that Jews have a lot of money came about because in the middle ages the Christian church forbid people from handling money and so all the jobs like bankers and lenders were done by Jews. This being said, not all Jews have a lot of money because this doesn't apply anymore.
Nice montage, there's so many great stars it would be hard to decide who to put in & who to leave out.Theres an older version of this video but I cant find it on YT any more.thank you pojhvcxz
its not the Jews it's the Lizardmen who control the World! they're everywhere!!!!!!! the Lizardmen and I think a guy named Eddie out of 'Philly. maybe Jimmy Stuchowski, too. yeah, that's it, the Lizardmen, Eddie and Jimmy control the world!!! the proof is everywhere!!!! oh my God, we're all doomed!!!!!!!
Yeah, I felt bad that I couldn't fit a lot of people. I think I got a good chunk of the people that should be there, but yeah, there were a lot more people whom I wanted to add. The song only has so many minutes, though, unfortunately. haha
Nice video. This is by far my fav Kinks song. It's a deep and introspective song that disseminates the differences of public image and actuality, which is unusual for any popular rock band.
For years I would hear bits and peices of this unreleased as a single Kinks song. The video is beautiful but I can't seem to get the Mrs. Robinson close-up.
I thought you did a great job.It brought back a lot of old memories. Thanks

Ah yes, I had to think for a second, but even Jimi Hendrix was a big movie star, as well as music star, and deserves his star on Hollywood Blvd.
Think "Woodstock" and "Jimi Hendrix", the movie!
