  • I thought you did a great job.It brought back a lot of old memories. Thanks

  • llyssaS:: Thank You very much for posting this. This is a Very Nice Tribute to both Ray Davies & Hollywood, Albeit away from Hollywood & Sunset Blvd's, Hollywood is a 4-Star Shit Hole! Unfortunate, but a stone cold fact.

  • i love the kinks god save the kinks

  • oft kopiert, nie erreicht weil es die kinks nur einmal gibt.

  • Thank you for posting, I am from Hollywood and your video is nicer than the city itself :)

  • @1caninelover Thank you so much! :D

  • @IlyssaS You're welcome; love the vintage shots of Hollywood. I am sure it was a nicer city before my time :)

Sad to see all the kids (runaways) who think they're going to get into movies only to fall prey to the pimps, chicken hawks & porn industry. They don't know what's out there.

  • @IlyssaS You're welcome :) have you ever been to Hollywood? Runaways thinking they'll hit the big time with pimps & chickenhawks ready to snatch them up, homeless addicts & teenagers turning tricks to survive along with foreign tourists on tours to look at celeb houses & a slew of actors waiting tables.

  • Mickey Rooney is still alive!

  • @80sbuttrock I realize that fully. lol He's mentioned in the song, that's why I put him there. And not everyone who gets a tribute has to be dead, you know! :P

  • I imagine that in a slightly clearer state of mind, that I could have explained my interpretation of the song much better! Sorry! Peace to all!

  • Just a simple question to everyone. What do you feel the meaning of this song is trying to convey? I feel that the song means that even though we dont make actual movies, that most feel that their life is, in fact a movie. Worthy of all the hardships, struggles, and even suicides that regular people have endured. I feel that this says that we are all movie stars in life, even though we're not wanting to be. not just the rich and famous. Does this make sence? thanks, Shawn...

  • You did a great job on this, it's impossible to include everyone. I've been to Hollywood dozens of times and still haven't seen all the stars listed in the song. I've so wanted to do a video like this, so my admiration and appreciation for doing a great job!

  • This is my favorite song of all time.. the lyrics to this are quite simply, brilliant!! I never get tired of listening to this classic.

  • Karin, this is posted for you,

  • eye2eye salute

  • EPIC! Fantastic video, fantastic song. Thanks for posting!

  • Thank You For posting this is my fav.Kinks tune.I just saw Ray Davies in Atlantic City and sadly he didnt do this tune.Paid dibs to his brother Dave, Said there would never had been The Kinks without him.Heard Dave had a stroke and is not doing well back home in England.God speed Dave. The Kinks music is timeless.

  • Good job!! This is my favorite song of ALL time!!

  • spectacular job....thank you

  • the ultimate musical legacy from the kinks ... very underestimated ...

  • From the book: ''Ray Davies: Not Like Everybody Else"

"Celluloid Heroes closes the studio sides with one of Davies most powerful vocal performances, with tonal shifts conveying reflection, vulnerability, irony, compassion and ultimately, desperation. 'When Ray put down the vocals to that, I stood an awe of the man!' said Gosling."

    Definitely one of my favorites.

  • awesome

  • Fantastic great job seen the Kinks in the late 70s and they performed this song, the audience was blown away, again Thanks

  • Brilliant!

  • Excellent job, thanks a lot!!

  • Great Job

  • Just heard this song for the first time in ages. I'd forgotten how powerful it is. The sequence of images to go with it are great. Wonderful job!

  • motorcycles oftentimes hit small bumbs go airborne and fly off bridges.

  • can't get enough of this one. i'll go see it for myself! the world breaks everone. be on your gaurd.mortals feel pain.

  • This song is chilling...........

  • Oh yea, but what that has to do with this song?

  • Maybe you could add Paul Newman now to this!!??

  • Yes, of course. The jews have all the money and the whits have all the power. Blacks get special treetment and are all druggies and crooks. All muslems are terrorists and hate America. All indians work at 7-11 and drive a taxi. All Aisians are here to take your job and every single christian person a Nazi. Get real man. None of that is true and when you enforce the negitive steriotypes then you just make yourself a massive target to get the SHIT beaten out of you.

  • Stereotypes are perpetuated by reality...

  • I agree but it is twisted a lot. The stereotype that Jews have a lot of money came about because in the middle ages the Christian church forbid people from handling money and so all the jobs like bankers and lenders were done by Jews. This being said, not all Jews have a lot of money because this doesn't apply anymore.

  • @larryboa67

I would get into this with you, Dude, But I'd hate to make you late for your Ku Klux Klan Meeting!

  • wow .. super nice song =D

    My favorite

  • its not the Jews it's the Lizardmen who control the World! they're everywhere!!!!!!! the Lizardmen and I think a guy named Eddie out of 'Philly. maybe Jimmy Stuchowski, too. yeah, that's it, the Lizardmen, Eddie and Jimmy control the world!!! the proof is everywhere!!!! oh my God, we're all doomed!!!!!!!

  • You people are all crazy.

  • Welcome to reality

  • EXCELLENT JOB! And what a great song!

  • when are the Kinks going to get their star???

  • I was listening to this song the other day, and was thinking about making this video -- but you've already done it! Good job.

  • You should mention that this is a Kinks song by Ray Davis. Very talented guys, they are the Rock Heroes!

  • Great job- ought to have a million hits- but that's life w/ Ray & bro.

What a great assembly of music men here in this beautifful rendition of one of the greatest pop songs of all time!

  • Well done - Thanks

  • T.T.......Nice song

  • Hollywood's greats....NONE of today's actor/actress can compare to the OLD Hollywood...what a great time

  • I don't know...have to think Robert Dinero would be able to hold his own...

  • THIS IS AWESOME, but you left out a bunch of people.

  • Yeah, I felt bad that I couldn't fit a lot of people. I think I got a good chunk of the people that should be there, but yeah, there were a lot more people whom I wanted to add. The song only has so many minutes, though, unfortunately. haha

  • class all the way thanks for the post

  • Damn, I almost cried! Good job IlyssaS! You did justice for this song and then some!

And somebody actually remembers Zero Mostel! (5:31-5:40)

This is up there with Melegorm's take on Steely Dan songs- Excellent!

  • great vid! about a month ago i saw Ray Davies at San Fransisco. he came out a side door and i got to shake his hand

  • Ah yes, I had to think for a second, but even Jimi Hendrix was a big movie star, as well as music star, and deserves his star on Hollywood Blvd.

Think "Woodstock" and "Jimi Hendrix", the movie!

  • Ayyy Dios mio que belleza de cancion...como diria mi amigo Jose UNA CHIMBA !!!!

  • Very nice job, the best one out there! It is one of my favorite songs and you did it credit.

  • Love the lyrics to this song, they're inspired :-)

  • Nice video. This is by far my fav Kinks song. It's a deep and introspective song that disseminates the differences of public image and actuality, which is unusual for any popular rock band.

  • For years I would hear bits and peices of this unreleased as a single Kinks song. The video is beautiful but I can't seem to get the Mrs. Robinson close-up.

  • I added Anne Bancroft's picture because the end of the video is a tribute to the Hollywood greats who died that weren't mentioned in the Kinks' song.

  • nice...

  • 4 words..Great Song..Great Video

  • it knew the song, but it's great to actually see the faces of the people they sing about.

    many thanx

  • Very Poignant. A great song when reminiscing about the past. Should be played more on radio stations.

  • Yeah this is by the kinks, pwnage nice job

  • great man this is my all time favorite song . i found by steve vai then i found this and its so much better

  • great video. and the kinks are awesome.

  • very good job, I always loved this song and you did a great job.

  • Great song and well-chosen images to accompany it; nicely done and thank you.

  • One of the better tributes on YouTube. I dug it. An amazing song that I feel is very hard to approach. Good Show.
