Have been following GL for about 40 years, this might be my favorite song because when I was growing up my Mom always warned me about "fair weather friends", so I've always tried to be a "rainy day person" altho GL was the first time I heard that term. After having too many people turn into fair weather friends, I appreciate rainy day people all the more.
OK Mike.....my "friend"...yes my roof is leaking !! But enough already with sending me all these roof and rain videos!!!! - Lololol....seriously though..Thanks for keeping me laughing buddy!! - Jacqui
hoping to hit grnvl./spartant.greer. tryin to put an act togeather soon. would like to cop a little gordo along with hank bein the wild card inthe whole deck. lots of love to my carolina sunshine girls. ThePoboyms61s
I was born in 1968 and I remember all of Gordon's music. I just close my eyes and drift away. Not many artists have that knack. Certainly none of the crap on the radio today.
I've got a taste of this song when I first went to California in mid 70s and it is such a beautiful song. I hope that the weather will be kind to my city (Bangkok) next year and the following years to come. We recently have had the worst flood in our history and I wish that this will never happen again.
I grew up listening to a lot of his music in the late 70's/early 80's. My Dad was and is still a big fan. Back then it was 'Dad do we have to listen Gord Lightfoot?' Now after all these years and just about to turn 40, I have an appreciation and fondness for his music that I never had. These songs bring back lots of memories.
A great song-and a great album! I have a quadraphonic vinyl LP from the 70s of this! If you haven't heard Gord in quad (this album and Sundown) you haven't heard Gord at all! Fantastic! Wish they'd release it in Dolby 5.1!!!
Love this song...but I'm cursing Norm MacDonald for corrupting my poor little mind with his impression of Gordon Lightfoot singing Rod Stewart's "Maggie May" that he's done on Bill Simmons' podcast and Adam Carolla's radio show... ;)
Used to hate GL when I was a kid...have developed such appreciation for him the past 20 years...My Dad loves him...means even more now that I'm facing losing my Dad. Thank you Gordon for your music and for bringing me and my Dad even closer than I ever thought we could be xoxo
I'm definatly a rainy day person! :)

I honestly think this Lightfoot's greatest song, and one of the greatest songs written in the history of music.

Great song! But just a heads up: beware @thomascow1's rendition — hideous.
