LOL at some of the post below !!!!! Bottom line: ANY and EVERY RB needs decent blocking and an effective balanced offense helps, also. Benson had the same YPC as Jones had in Chicago. When giving the chance, he played decent (just look at the "Beezy" youtube video of his highlights as a Bear. Ran just as good as he is now when getting decent blocking and having a decent passing game.
He should be in a tandem backfield with Jones and Benson together the Bears had an amazing run game. So if the Bears use Benson and Forte together there might be some production next season.
look last year was his first full year wit a crappy o line so im not wortried give him some more expierience and an average o line he will rush for 1000 yds.....he has speed and power which is good hes big 2 so i think he need s time to devolop
Benson is not a bust, but is not a feature back, the Bears just haven't realized he is not a feature back he is more of a dual back, the Bears rushing attack will be better next season with the duo of Benson and Forte.
yea i dont think matt forte will be a bust, he is taller, bigger, hard to get down, he can break tackles like crazy and he can also find small wholes to run threw, not mention he is faster that benson as well
nah he sucks he has no burst, so he cant hit the holes his line gives him and when u guys had jones he was very nice, benson is a big bust, i mean u guys have to admit when jones was the back he did a nice job, and now u have no running game bad move giving him to the jets
Benson was doing these kinds of things in the Seahawks game. But the braintust that is the Bears' coaching staff pulled him b/c they had "planned to give AP more playing time" before the game. ARRGHH!!!!
you all are a bunch of stupid son of a bitches any rb in the nfl would have done shit behind a shit offensive line and no passing game if the bears can at least get there offensive line straight this year we will see the real cedric benson
exactly! our offenseive line BLOWS......we get a couple solid pieces on the o-line.....he will be a very good back.....the time are o-line did block he busted out great runs.....maybe we wont get any offensive lineman from the senior center this year
Look up his stats against Oklahoma. How did he do in the those big games? He piled up great stats against crap competition in college, but when he faced NFL caliber players(Oklahoma), he was average at best. It's no coincidence that he sucks in the NFL now that he faces that talent every week. The writing was on the wall in college.

It's no coincidence that he sucks in the NFL now that he faces that talent every week. The writing was on the wall in college.
How is he expected to have big games against teams of Oklahoma's caliber? All they had to do was stack the box because Texas had no real passing threat.Their QB was a sophomore Vince Young, who was known strictly as a scramber at the time.their #1 receiver was Tony Jeffrey's. Tony who? exactly.i mean how much easier can it get for the Sooner's d-coordinator? Texas has a runningback, a scrambling QB, and no standout receiver. I wonder how your supposed to defend this team?maybe watch the run?
why would anyone need to make excuses for his collegiate career? i know that every player has a bad day but overall, he had a great career at texas. right now, i dont blame people for not believing hes as good as he should be as of now. if you dont pay attention to his NFL games, then its hard to understand how a #4overall pick has such poor production. all i know is that hes the same big, powerful, fast runninback as he was at texas and he's gonna make a huge impact in the NFL sometime soon.
Big? Powerful? Fast? Maybe against Baylor and North Texas, but not in the NFL and not against good teams like Oklahoma. I watched him in college and I knew he would suck in the NFL. He is a one dimensional runner that has average speed, below average agility, and no moves. He is going into year 4 and still hasn't figured out how to block or catch a pass. He's a worthless piece of trash and I hope his NFL career is over after 2008.
a 4.5 40yard dash is plent of speed for a powerback. hes plent agile for a powerback. and he doesnt have the moves of reggie bush. again maybe thats because hes a POWERback.
you can hate all you want. but i see great potential in this guy and know that he can turn his career around if he's put in situation necessary for success.
Powerback? When? Not in the NFL. I don't see him running people over and even if he did, that kind of back doesn't work in the NFL. You are not going to be able to run guys over on a consistent basis. Plenty agile? Is that why he only runs up the middle and can't get to the outside if his life depeneded on it? You sound like a Bumson fanboy. Great potential? Running back is the easiest position to make an impact in the NFL. It's year 4 and we're STILL waiting.
Powerback? When?his whole career.if you havnt seen him running over people, you should watch his games more often.and are you stupid?how do powerbacks not work in the NFL?nobody will run people over every play but benson can do it well.its not about just running people over either, just breaking a tackle is enough.and only runs up the middle?sorry that cedric benson is the bears running back, not the offensive coordinator.last year was basically his rookie season,1st year being the starter.
You have no clue and you are just in love with Bumson. How many times has he run out of bounds rather than try to make a tackler miss or run them over? Way too many to count. He can do it well? Only if it's Baylor or North Texas across from him. Nice excuse about him being "basically a rookie". Last time I checked, 2007 was his 3rd year in the league and he still doesn't know how to catch a pass or block. One dimensional!!!! He got plenty of carries in 2005 and 2006.
dang am i talking to l.t. right now? it seems like you know everything there is to know about being a great runningback.you are contradicting yourself right now.if you say all he does is run up the middle, how would he run out of bounce when the sidelines are on the outside?you got me on that one.and thanks officer obvious it is his 3rd year.u can count.i said it was his first year as a starter so his first year being "the guy".yes he did get plenty of carries in 05-06. averaged 4.1yards a carry
I know all I need to know about you when you say "out of BOUNCE". Are you retarded? Are you some retard from the inner city? FYI, it's "out of BOUNDS". When you are the #4 overall pick, becoming the "the guy" in your 3rd season shouldn't be a big deal and it definitely isn't an excuse for his pathetic play and lack of heart and toughness. I guess becoming the guy means that your speed, agility, balance, vision, heart, and toughness disappear. Just what we need out of the #4 overall pick.
dang you must be the God's gift at the runninback position. you seriously know EVERYTHING there is to know.
who are you to judge his heart, toughness, and any other attribute of benson's? have you looked at their piss poor offensive line? i guarantee you even l.t. wouldnt be able to run for 1000yards behind, let alone alexander, jackson, portis, or even you. whens the last time he got a carry and wasnt hit at the line of scrimmage? he breaks it for a good gain everytime the line actually blocks
I know you've been in love with Bumson since his UT days. It's ok. Just accept the fact that he's too soft to play in the NFL. The Chargers knew it and exposed him to the rest of the NFL. It started when Bob Sanders handed him his lunch in the Super Bowl and scared him so bad that he took himself out of the game. Wasn't hit at the line of scrimmage? Are you joking? That happened less that 5% of the time. Nice try with that excuse. He is a piece of garbage wasted draft pick. Period.
Quit avoiding the facts. It was his 3rd season and he sucked. Good gain? When? If he actually gets through the hole, he goes down on first contact from a 175 lb DB. He couldn't juke my grandma. He has no speed, vision, agility, balance, toughness, heart, pass catching ability, or blocking ability. Other than that, he was well worth the #4 overall pick. Just ask him. He'll tell you while he makes more excuses for soft play.
its no use responding to your comments after this one.you use the same reasons and act as if your a professional NFL scout when you try to judge his abilities as a player when you really just sound like an ignorant kid that gets all his information from sportscenter.if you would actually watch some bears games,or if you just understood football period, you wouldnt be typing half the bullshit that you have been posting.respond if u want but its a waste time.we will never change eachothers opinions
oh my bad. sorry i didnt know that runningback was the easiest position to make an impact in the NFL. i havnt played in the national football league so i wouldnt know.
HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA! I love being right. What do you have to say now you idiot? Bumson is the worst Bears draft pick EVER!!!!!!!!!!! Thank God he's finally gone. Good bye and good riddance. Maybe he can find a league to play in where they play against Baylor and North Texas every week.
ahh, farmboy, I was the one arguing your points months ago against themeg. Yes, being right is good. very good. Too bad it's at the cost of a #4 pick.
Rex is not that bad the people make him look bad he has shown flashes of brilliance like in 06 the start of a posible mvp campaign people in 8 games his stats were 22 td's and 3 ints here in Chicago usually only go for the Bears when they are winning and when they start talking alot of crap about the team and make fun of whoever wears Bear's equipment. Theres no loyal fanbase Bears Qb's no matter who will always face scrutiny.
He needs to lose 20 pounds and become slimer like he was at Texas because at 5'10 230 thats not good, a good lineman like Sam Baker at the draft will help and then Chad Henne in 2nd round.
Baker will not work in our Oline scheme as he's a zone blocking OL we need brut Strengh in our running game pressure blocking scheme and Baker just isn't that guy, i'm sure he would work well else where but it just doesn't work here
if only he could play like he could in his college years and bring them in the nfl for the bears he has sucked ass in the nfl so far but he has got the talent
look at jones 1st couple years in the league. he was tagged as a bust as well. and the jets sure have a better o-line than the bears. benson just needs more experience like jones has.
Bumson is worthless in the NFL. He has no vision, heart, desire, agility, tackle breaking ability, or pass catching ability. Other than that, he's pretty good and worthy of the #4 overall pick. I hope his leg/ankle is messed up and he can't play for the Bears next year. What a bust!!!!!!!!!!!
thomas jones wasnt good. you guys act like hes canton bound or some shit. it is not the same line because they are banged up, older, and have no explosion off the ball like they did when they were young. ive never seen an o lineman get thrown around like garza does. ruben brown was our best lineman and he was playin at 50% b4 he got hurt. benson needs to lose weight and we need to draft a tackle like jake long.
Hmm, I'm so suprised at what I'm seeing. Back in Texas Benson was a beast. He had great vison actually broke takles. I'm not sure but I might even seen speed, it must be someone different lol. I imagined maybe he gained weight or maybe the bears run blocking is just that bad, because its so odd how he isn't producing in the pros.
i guarantee you its the blocking. the only signs of his college days ive been able to see are on pass receptions out of the backfield every once in a while. that has been the only way for him to get into the open field and show something. other then that, he gets hits either in the backfield or atmost 2 yards past the line of scrimmage cuz the run blocking is just pathetic.
Thomas Jones killed it for two years with that same line. How dare you deny Olin's awesomeness?! Can the Bears make a deal for Chester Taylor? He'll want more touches next year I'm guessing.
uhh 1 year is actually a pretty big difference if you know anything about football. there are so many teams that struggle the year right after a trip to the superbowl. a true fan would know that
"A true fan would know that." Wipe thy tears from my eyes.
I'm not talking about teams. I'm talking about RBs. T. Jones; 2004: 948 yards; 2005: 1335; 2006: 1210; and even in 2007, on a terrible Jets team: 944 yards. And his ypc has always been higher or as high as Ced's. He's four years older, that's the only knock. Ced got too many carries in college; his best football is behind him. Give it to the Wolfe.
lol whats your point? thanks for giving me those stats from tj's performance from previous bears teams.. i hope you realize teams change over time? bensons average was over 4ypc when running behind the same line as tj.
and that was the dumbest thing ive heard..how can there be a thing such as "too many carries" if your producing? just from that quote i can tell you have little experience with football whatsoever. and your screen name tells me a lot as well.
Cedric's mom? Is this you? Ask Earl Campbell or Larry Johnson about too many carries. The dumbest thing you've heard? Really? Clearly you're not familiar with our President Bush. He's got me beat.
The ultimate question: do you think Benson is good or will be good in the NFL? Your support for him fascinates me.
When he missed his rookie training camp he told reporters that he;ll be able to start by the 2nd week. That didn't happen. A year later a reporter asked if given the oppurtunity could he achieve 1000 yards? He said yes. 1500? He said yes. 1800? He still said yes. That also didn't happen. I thought when the bears drafted him he would become a back who would go to several pro bowls and potentially be a hall of famer...
who the fuck is this kid sayin benson pops roids go back to kc u fuckin fag by the way larry johnson is only good because of his line. remember priest holmes?? dont see him around anymore, you know why?? cuz he sucks
PLEASE DON'T READ THIS. You will get kissed on the nearest possible Friday by the love of your life. Tomorrow will be the best day of your life. However, if you don't post this comment to at least 3 videos, you will die within 2 days. Copy and paste this, to be saved
1800 yards? 15 tds? Dont give him too much credit he hasnt even started in the NFL. He will get into double digit TDs but not 1800 yards or even 1600. He will probably get 1150 or 1200 yards and around 12 tds.
are you kidding benson will have at least 1400 yards if healthy, thomas jones had 1300 yards and benson is alot better and at least 15 tds you will see buddy,ps ronnie brown is not as good
LOL at some of the post below !!!!! Bottom line: ANY and EVERY RB needs decent blocking and an effective balanced offense helps, also. Benson had the same YPC as Jones had in Chicago.

Your support for him fascinates me.

are you the kid that cedric benson threw into a trashcan? is this you?
usually when a running back is producing, you give them the ball. but i guess benson got "too many carries" because his college career sucked.

I thought when the bears drafted him he would become a back who would go to several pro bowls and potentially be a hall of famer...

he's changed a lot from his rookie year to now. I remember he was a very confident rookie and now he seems like he lost the passion for the game.

The dude is killing my fantasy team. what a bust

guess he wasn't ready to be "the" back for chicago
jayatee 4 years ago
He can't stay on his feet if he is bumped and cannot shed tacklers like Peterson. Not a good NFL back. Too bad.

mikey bears: 1400 yards and 15 TDs?
I love the Bears, but Benson makes me yearn for Curtis Enis. All you need to know about Ced is his Superbowl performance: 2 carries, minus 1 yards

1800 yards? 15 tds? Dont give him too much credit he hasnt even started in the NFL. He will get into double digit TDs but not 1800 yards or even 1600. He will probably get 1150 or 1200 yards and around 12 tds.
J5cq 4 years ago
are you kidding benson will have at least 1400 yards if healthy, thomas jones had 1300 yards and benson is alot better and at least 15 tds you will see buddy,ps ronnie brown is not as good
