  • I have the same issue. Have you got DVD drive problems where it wouldn't bother to read the disc? This laptop is crap

  • Ok...my younger brother hasn't had his laptop for even two years yet and already several keys, l, k,j, w, and d do not work. All his other keys work. Is there anything that he can do to fix it? I don't think he needs a whole new keyboard. His computer is a Dell Inspiron 15 something...

  • I have the same problem, and i don't know how to fix it...

  • @ClickLike Call Dell... they eventually got it right. It was a firmware issue in the end.

  • @eyestalk Can you please send me the fix for this problem... as soon as you can, please.

  • @ClickLike I didn't get a specific fix from Dell. They did it when I sent it in to the depot and finally discovered what the problem was (firmware with the media keys). Contact Dell and see if they can either give you the firmware or you may have to send it to depot. The laptop was back within a week.

  • now i know why they took them buttons off the Dell 1555

  • they replaced the hinge cause they prob fucked it up while opening it so they had no choice but to replace it lol :D ... I also got that problem with mine it seems to be a Motherboard problem.. it does get annoying cause all of a sudden the volume will go up and the key will light up with out me doing anything and stay lit for upto an hr..

  • I have given up using the media keys a long time ago. I just use Fn-F10 combination to eject a disc. And the tray icon for volume adjustments and mouse clicking in WMP/VLC/... to start/stop a song/movie, etc. It's what I did on my old laptop, that didn't have all those fancy buttons, and it's the best way not to get frustrated with those sh*te-buttons

  • Mine did this same thing...finally it died a few months ago and I'm looking for a completely different laptop!
