This is a great discovery, Empyrium are one of my favourite bands, and it's great that TVB take a TOTALLY different direction, so there isn't much comparison. This reminds me a fair bit of Rammstein in its Gothic and epic sound, but much heavier. They should tour together.

Well Empyrium is a very good band, I usually lsn to them when I am depressed and it realy helps me to calm down. some songs like Mourners and The lovers Grief are metal. Anyway TVB and Empyrium are two of my fav bands

@exser: I don't agree. German, dutch and scandinavian gothic comes from a different heritage respect the english one. Many of the first kind of bands got a strong influence from the Power Metal and from the Industrial Metal instead of the english ones that comes from a classical formation near to Rock and Heavy Metal. Different styles, different music. I prefere the english ones because of their stronger feeling to melancholy. The german ones are too "happy" for my idea of gothic.

They are totally different. TVB is a 100% Metal band, Empyrium was an experimental project. I don't know what song you have listened to, but I recommend you "Songs of Moors & Misty Fields" that is their best work. They sounded like first Anathema with folk influences. Anyway, a cult band for VERY openminded people.
