Hancock may be on to something about a previous and much older civilization, but the proof he advances is quite weak. Machine tools, ceramics, even hybridization of plant life existing 25 thousand years ago would have survived to the present day. Nothing even remotely 'modern' albeit of great age has ever been convincingly advanced as an out-of-place artifact.

Fingerprints is his magnum opus and it will change your life and how you see the world if you haven't explored this area much yet. Hancock may be on to something about a previous and much older civilization, but the proof he advances is quite weak. Machine tools, ceramics, even hybridization of plant life existing 25 thousand years ago would have survived to the present day. Nothing even remotely 'modern' albeit of great age has ever been convincingly advanced as an out-of-place artifact.

But people are very gullible. Prophets of doom (of whatever type) have been around since Sumerian times. Sages, soothsayers, shamans, priests and diviners has been making bad preditions for millenia. There are more trees now in North America than at the time of the Pilgrims, 1610. My small city in the desert had zero trees, shrubs and grass 100 years ago. Last count showed over three hundred thousand. It's politics that make things "unsustainable" not human's modern use of the planet and it's resources.

Oxides of nitrogen and sulpher pollute the air via coal power plants and motor vehicles. But...we in the West are cleaning things up. That is the important point. Even animals 'pollute' to some degree. Don't laugh, cow farts are a great contributor to bad air quality. Cows are in the millions, their methane farts are in the billions.

Fingerprints is his magnum opus and it will change your life and how you see the world if you haven't explored this area much yet. What you should expect is a fundamental shift in how you see the history of the human race. Convincing evidence of ancient high technology civilizations that we have forgotten about. His key quote sums it up: "we are a species with amnesia". Enjoy the book, it will change you for the better.

I know it is unproductive to simply say that human history has been intentionally suppressed, but it does seem to be the case. The question that then arises is why. Maintaining control and power are an obvious reason, but I think there is more to it. The Sanskrit word Maya means delusion of reality. @AndreHiltre who says a role model/guru needs to be perfect and not just in a better position to help others on the path? Do gurus always need to be ascetic? Buddha wasn't an ascetic, he abandoned that path and many consider him to have been the most enlightened person to have existed.

I'm starting to think that the whole 2012 thing isnt prophecy at all but forecast - forecast made by a highly advanced civilization that lived around 20000 years ago and understood much more than we do about the cosmos, I just hope their forecast are wrong...
