Not exactly. Disney uses Waterscreens which were developed by a french company in the late 80s. They will be using this same exact (type of projection thats in the video) for the new World Of Color show during some moments of it.
Disney's waterscreens were developed by the same guy who started his own company and developed these same fountains. And now that former imagineer is working with Disney to develop the world of Color show!
How pathetic! Now you can watch commercials (complete with politically correct minority actress) in water fountains! And the mouth breathers fucking LOVE it! A goddamn COMMERCIAL!
This is not a commercial. These people were led here by clues, and the images projected on the screen are more clues used to solve a variety of puzzles. They love it because they were waiting for it.
That's new. I've never seen the Ballagio do that before. Wonder if they do that all the time now. Seems I might have to go back and visit vegas and see.
No, they don't do this regularly. This was part of a complex alternate-reality game/publicity stunt for the launch of WindowsVista. What's projected on the water are clues to solve a series of complicated online puzzles.
For the past month, Windows had been launching other weekly live events around the world giving more clues as more puzzles became available; clues were written in the sky, projected on the facades of prominent buildings as murals, then hidden in a huge fireworks spectacle.
disney has been doing this for years.... old tech but still a cool moment none-the-less...

Water Projection Technology has been around long before Fantasmic. The ones that Disney uses were developed for Disneyland but the technology is old.
