Though that's better then my observed mpg in my '77 280Z: 21 mpg with a 4 speed. Driving the same route, I could get a 2002 Lancer ES 4speed auto to average around 25-27, but that's because I have a heavy foot, just like these guys.

1 kilometer per liter = 2.35214583 miles per gallon

so

21km per litre = 49.39505 miles per gallon

The only advantage I can see compared to a real car is for parking. Otherwise it is less safe, cramped, slow, underpowered, and doesn't appear to have significantly lower fuel consumption. I like the idea of small, light, economical, zippy personal transportation (at least until we get electric cars with practical range or find some insanely cheap, clean fuel for IC engines) but this ain't it.

Yeah it's just a difference in taste methinks (though I don't like the smart and hate this but like the Fiat 500 and some other compacts). I for one think that a lot of the the big American SUVs look like big toy cars designed by 3 year olds and have a hard time taking people that drive them seriously (talking about SUVs and trucks here muscle cars are cool and less pretentious).

Design: I'd say they go in two different routs, I like the design of the Challenger, but it really depends on what floats your boat. Challenger seems a bit more grown up, while Camaro seems to target a younger audience.

@zenom88 Actually, Mitsubishi has never been known to make fuel efficient cars ever. I remember back in the 80s, the Mitsubishi Starion, a kick-ass sports car has a 2.6 liter engine, with only 168hp, and delivered only 19mpg highway. By comparison, a Porsche 944 S2 had a 3.0 liter engine, 4 cylinder, more than 200hp, and it delivered 25mpg! So you see, other cars make bigger displacement 4 cylinder engines, yet having more horsepower, and more spg (smiles per gallon).

If you put a silly large turbo you can get whatever kind of horsepower from whatever size engine. The problem is - it wont last very long and it wont be what you call "refined". Small engine is just not meant for such power.

It'd also take forever to get the bigger turbo to spool. I don't think it'd be able to get a GT35 to even work except idle, unless they convert it to a twin turbo. It's a .659L displacement engine, 3 times smaller than the size of an Mitsubishi Evolution which has trouble running the GT35 w/o turbo lag.

Btw, there's small engine cars that can push harder than bigger displacement engines.. just depends on the material of the internal engine. M3 w/ HPF, mild displacement but a lot of power, DD.
