@killsau Gaming isn't really as supported as well as it should be on Linux, but there are issues. Wine has almost all the code you need to run windows programs including games. The real issue is that there is a drop out between the Linux community and Graphic card providers ie AMD and NVidia. So you are correct but its proprietary hardware slowing down its gaming.

Amazing commercial! If you actually air it (which I highly recommend) I would add a link to a single distribution, such as Ubuntu. When a computer newbie Googles "Linux" there is so much information there, which would likely end up putting them off.

i use debian based distros on my servers, and my laptop, i also dual boot windows for when i have to go to a customers location for onsite service, i personally prefer Linux over windows, because linux works best for my needs, whereas the same functionality from windows would cost a fortune in licensing alone, i'm all for open source, the choice is yours, Open Freedom, or the restrictions of proprietary operating systems... you decide

I don't use linux as a big middle finger to microsoft, I use linux because your computer isn't spied on by Microsoft. I use it because I don't have to pay a crapton for AV software. I use it because it's free. I use it because there are constant, fast updates and great support. I use it because it has a better, more stable alternative to just about any app you need and use on windows. No lock-ins, no viruses, no piracy and no propietary software.

I use linux because it's simply... better.

Don't forget to tell your friends about Linux. Most of the people either don't know it or are skepticle about it (but then again there are some people who think that Bill Gates is not rich enough or that Windows is very stable). Windows and Mac are definitely winning in commercials and market forces which force their OS on hardware producers and computer distributors. But as my professor once said, word of mouth between friends and families is much stronger than any other marketing strategies.

If linux is really that great (I'm not saying it isn't) than make your own animated movie with your favorite linux tool, texture it with gimp or whatever, create sound effects with Qtractor, and come back again :-)

Well, actually many movies FX are done on rendering farms as well as workstation running Linux. Alias|Wavefront Maya is one of the tools used. Apple Shake is another.

So what ever Hollywood movie you saw lately has been done either on Linux workstations/renderfarms or on Macs.

blender is a very powerful 3d creation/rendering app that could easily have done that ad. And other hardcore proprietary apps like maya and softimage have linux versions.  Render farms aside, Linux can and does this kind of 3d animation.
