@russdemar Hi there, Russ, No, no routing required, these are a drop-in fit. Btw, for your guitar I also recommend you keep the original 500K pots (even though JBE suggests 250). Try them, you'll abolutely love the Soapbars.
@SplitRockGuitars Thanks, I got this message after I got home, I call my guitar tech and he has it wired up already with new big 250K pots and a new 3 way switch. He said if I don't like the sound he will change them to 500k pots. I'll find out tomorrow when I pick it up. Thanks for getting back. Going to use it tomorrow night at my gig, with my Strat with Joe Barden's as my back up.
@SplitRockGuitars Hey, I was wondering if these soap bars would fit in my squier joe trohman without modding the body plus i'd like to put a barden strat-deluxe in the middle what do you think?
@sjdj408 Hey there. You would need a new pickguard with sopabar footprints. Your guitar has standard humbuckers in the bridge & neck positions, and the JBE Soapbars are P-90-sized. But you can also order a set of Joe Barden HB pickups - you'll get a great tone (and pretty close to the one you can hear in the video) but no modifications would be needed whatsoever. As for the S-Deluxe in the middle - that's what I personally would put there!
@SplitRockGuitars Hi, so the first route recommended would be to get a new pickguard (probably custom made) so it woud fit around the p-90's? Or install JBE humbuckers instead allowing for no mods or pickguard replacement? Well I was going the p-90 route with this new tele (I just ordered it and it is being shipped) 'cause I already have a Gibson les paul with some great PAF's already. But if all I need to do is order a new pickguard , I think I'll just go that rout. Thankyou for the advice.
Both the tone and your playing sound great, but tell us about the effects and amps please. Looks like a Peavey Classic 20, correct? What was the red Marshall amp? And how about the effects chain? These YouTube reviews aere wonderful for players on a tonequest, but we need the whole picture: guitar pickups. effects and amps. Thanks
You have done a great job making this demo! It made me more curious about the Joe Barden pickups, sounded clear even when picking fast,i could hear all the single notes when strumming or picking the strings dynamicly,or in other words:the air between the notes..
Cool demo, nice sounds. With considerable mods, I was actually able to install a JB soapbar into an archtop jazzbox. It's a pretty impressive jazz pickup.
Hello I have the same guitar, did you have to do any body routes to your Fender Squire custom Tele to mount the pickups to the body? Thanks Russ!
