why the fuck would apple make the ipad 3 with only 16gb and theyll argue its because fitting everything in it and making it slimmer than the last is why, but everyone knows its about money and the monopoly on storage they have...heres an idea:if content takes up twice as much space for each generation, make each generation (ipad 1, 2,3) have twice as much space for the same price instead of worrying about making it .05inches thinner..thatll create more hype and they will sell for sure

Love the idea about incorporating college textbooks into the iPad. As a graduate student who has to lug around my laptop, various text books and my supplies to classes and clinical my back thanks apple for thinking of this. I would do anything to have everything accessible in one place that is easy to carry. I hate to beat a dead Jobs, but as awesome as Apple is (with their iPads, iPhones, iBooks, and the like) I can't justify any sort of digital textbook for the reason that they too eliminate more jobs. Unless there is a way to buy and sell used digital textbooks...which I don't seen happening anytime soon...such technological advances, especially with the monopoly-esque policy of Apple, are yet another blow to the job market (losing used/new bookstores, publishing companies, shipping, etc).

i think it's a bad idea. If it's digital they should make it much cheaper, like comparable to used books. For me, it always feels better to have a physical copy because I can flip pages to wherever I want easily.

A classroom environment is not for all, but I believe that making it digital is expected. If you think about it, and I hate to say this, but people are really moving more towards text, and electronic communication. Ask yourself: how many of your Facebook friends actually enjoy hanging out IRL? I hate saying it, but people are going to eventually have an interactive "game" classroom, like Second Life for school.

One of the reasons to have all the things needed to teach on an iPad (assuming kids can also put there own music,games, and other things on it) would be that kids would most likely take better care of them. Most kids don't care about textbooks, so they can get torn up pretty quick, and the school loses more money.

Publishers want to eliminate private resales, usually the least expensive way to get text books. They change 2 pages then call it a new edition and your professor demands the latest edition. Hard copies have their place.

the problem with digital books is you can't share them after you buy them. A hard copy i can share or sell afterwards. If i do that with a digital copy i get arrested or fined. (If caught) lol.... regardless its just a pain to have to pay money for one class for a book. a rental digital copy makes more sense. If i'm gonna actually keep the book it better be about my major and then i'll want a hard copy to last.
