@AndhePants I need to update this video. It's now much simpler.. no cheese and I'm more delicate with spices. But I use all types of beans-- garbanzos, pinto, black, white, red... lentils (not technically a bean, but I lump them in).
Do you ever worry about diabetes? Although beans offer some form of protein. The majority of vegetables are full of sugar and starch. I foresee many vegans having diabetes in the future.
@zehnsechz Thanks for your comment. My wife is type 1. When we go to her diabetes education classes her dietician says she has to abstain form all veges.
arg i just hate rice and beans... but you are right we must deal with the idiotic use of resources when raising meat.
I'll wont go veggie on you, but i am supplementing my meals with insect protein these day's thanks to one of your vids. (my bugs are actually pretty yummie!)
@nevyn1 insect protein,,,,very interesting!! I would be willing to try it... what kind? I am not complete vegetarian either and insect protein makes sense... my next gardening goal is Aquaponics ( basically because i cannot afford to buy fish regularly).. maybe if i was better cook it would help....
@nevyn1 to be totally honest i dont know what kind of fish i could grow... but if i have a choice it will be a fish with a naturally short life because you are keeping the fish in a closed system...so i dont know how healthy the fish meat will be, lets face it no living thing does very well living in jail..lol...yet if i could still meet the above requirements i would choose mussels, clams, snails, the little octopus, and for bigger fish probably panfish, perch, and bass in that order....
@ajpisula i have heard quite good things about raising tilapia and catfish in aquaponic systems but must admit my knowledge on the matter is fragmented (at best) i do believe herbivorous fish are the way to go if you want to raise fish in a closed system, growing your own feed seems to me more 'sustainable' then feeding store bought feed.
@nevyn1 I apologize to you.. i am not a good communicator... but i will try again, all the fish (clams, mussels) i already eat and i would like to grow in aquaponics , also i have ate algae... one of the rare times i went on a real vacation with my son , we went to japan, and algae there is considered a delicacy and it was very good... but i need to improve my cooking skills.. your idea is good also!!, grow things in aquaponics that fish can eat, i nwill remember that one...
@ajpisula clams and mussels require saltwater right? i heard it's notoriously hard to maintain a closed saltwater system. really look that one up. i love the algae plan, great source of so many beneficial elements, i have got the incredible luck i life near the sea (wadden sea) which is a large tidal mudflats system packed with all kinds of forage able goods(clams, flounder, oysters mussels and several species of seaweed) i consider myself blessed having that bounty within reach!
@nevyn1 WOW that sounds like a wonderful place to live so close to!!!, and besides the food benefits it must be really nice to improve your view of reality and enjoy nature just by entering the mudflats, someday i will have to visit a mudflats, i have never seen one...and thanks about the saltwater comment , i will be sure to check it out
@nevyn1 i would also probably try to grow some algae...especially asiatic varieties, it tastes good and also very healthy and sounds very easy to grow...i hope!!!
dont you think a lot of food and water go into maintaining milk cows also...not to mention how disgusting the animals are treated in both meat and dairy production. i don't really understand what your message is supposed to be.
@ajpisula i dont think they would mind getting eaten, being dead and all.

yeah, no matter how often you mop, it's not right to feed the baby on the floor like that, the baby will drop beans off the plate and onto the floor and pick them back up and put them in his mouth.
@FRANKYMOOK I am so proud of you, rather than commenting about the topic you found a way to criticize the person. Are you jealous? Or just a republican?
I have to let you know that I've made this dish several times now and I just love it! I've tweaked it a bit to make it my own (mainly just by added extra onion and garlic, and some fresh mushroom).
Anyway, just thought you'd like to know that someone in Winnipeg makes this dish and thinks of you every time! Thank you!
@PegCityTanya Thanks for the feedback. I've also tweaked it a bit. I don't add cheese anymore and I'm much lighter with the spices. I like the idea of adding fresh mushroom. I'll try that.. especially during mushroom season in Barcelona when they're everywhere.
@MCPetruk Yeah, those were my early days with the recipe. It has gotten much simpler and more appealing to look at. I've actually cut out the cheese and now just steam veggies that I add as a side dish. So instead of a big pile of stuff, you can taste the flavor of the basic ingredients. And I try not to overseason.. something I did when I shot this video.
I love beans . . . flavored with smoked hog jowls!

@SnuggleBear1970 nah, not true. you have to look at the total ,acro-nutrient profile. the protein and in particular fat and fiber vs the sugar.

@SnuggleBear1970 that just doesnt make any sense. the GL for lets say broccolli the same as beef.
