i'm not hating because it's very clever, but... your redstone work is dreadful...

1 repeater = 3 redstone + 3 Stone

you can simply place redstone at the same level as the piston but behind it, and that will power the block beneath, powering the piston and using about... 3 repeaters (depending on the size of the farm and how far the button is) can make it more efficient on you're redstone supplies. As well as this, the 5 clock you used is really outdated too.

its way easyer to make a dispnser clock (5 min)

place a wooden persure plate under a dispenser reverse this power from the wooden presure plate reconect the reversed restone back to the dispenser and pistons

the item will disepear after 5 min so when the item dispears the dispenser shoots a new item on the presure plate in around 0.1 sec and the suger canes gets harvest

this all without lag or inoying pistons that keep going all the time

if you place the block the redstone repeaters is on one step higher and replace the repeaters with regular redstone dust, you'll get a cheaper version that gives the same result (exepts that's 1 step faster).

not sure if its worth using iron to make extra pistons, but u can put a sticky piston ontop of the repeaters (diagonal to the origional pistons) and atach a block to the end so u get more when u turn it on for the 1st time in a while

I can suggest two improvements that reduce cost and lag respectively.

One, have a line of blocks on top of the pistons, and lay redstone wire on that. It runs all of them, and is far cheaper than repeaters.

Two, have the on/off switch kill the clock directly - I use a stickypiston-AND - so that the game does not waste resources running the loop of torches (or a repeater-torch feedback) when you do not use it.

Instead of using redstone repeaters just put a line of redstone on a block that is the same height as the pistons and put the pistons right next to those blocks

@cumpleter45 For the Sugar Cane, remember when he showed the schematic for the wiring and that there was a switch? That's all there is to it. Just place water channels leading to your collection point. I've built both the Sugar Cane farm and the Chickenator 5000. If you'd like me to go into further depth and film a tutorial, I would do so. @cumpleter45 lol! I just relized that my last comment probably didn't make much sense. Ok, you have an AND gate, a pulser on one side and a switch on the other. Connect that switch to a long ass line of redstone leading to your control room. Then put the redstone line on the outside of your control room, and put the switch on the inside. If this still doesn't help, watch TheMinecraftMuse's Redstone for Dummies tutorial. Again, if you'd like me to make a tutorial, I will do so. :)

@Luis11717 Because that means you have to go out and do it over and over again, this way you set it up once then you can just turn it on and get sugar cane straight away, plus if you have it set up to a lot of sugar cane you can actually harvest it faster than you could humanly possible by punching it.

@Artifex9989 thats called semi automatic. a semiauto hand gun means you have to pull the trigger each time you want to shoot. and automatic means you can hold it down and many bullets fire. manual means you have to reload after every shot like a single shot shotgun. so this is a fully automatic reed farm where as what you are describing is a semi auto.

I am having trouble figuring out how once the sugar cane is cut and flows down the initial wide mouthed water fall.. how can I get all the cane to all start flowing down a new duct with the water flowing a different direction to get the stuff moving to where you want it. instead of the AND gate i found it easier to make a line of redstone from one of the blocks on the pulser, and put an inverter then a lever. when u switch it it powers the whole thing so it cant pulse,switch again and it goes to normal.

You can get by without the repeaters if you just run a single "wire" of redstone along one block up and adjacent to the sugar punchers.

@InvalidFingerprint If you want, you can leave a pulsar on, so that the second the sugar grows, you harvest it again. It isn't necessary, but does earn sugarcane faster than turning it on whenever you want some.

You can actually do this with two layers of pistons, so that both the top and middle layers of the sugar cane are broken off simultaneously. I find this minimizes the amount of sugar cane that's lost from landing on the dirt below.
